SU Retirement Party

Well, I am having a SU Retirement Party tomorrow, and I finally got around to coming up with the make-n-takes!!! Nothing like leaving it for the last minute!!! My first card uses 1 Cor 13:13 from Elegant Inspirations. I sure hate to see that set go. It’s a keeper for me!!!

I combined it with Carte Postale, which is probably my all time favorite set EVER!!! And I mean EVER!!! Haven’t used it for awhile, and thought it worked into this card well. The DP is from Brocade Backgrounds — love that stuff!!! The bird is white embossed and the circle is run through the Craft White pad for edging. I colored the flower centers up in the corner with the Old Olive marker. This luscious ribbon is from the Theater pack of Ribbon Originals. Love that it is Olive on one side and River Rock on the other. Another really nice quality satin ribbon.

  • Stamps: Elegant Inspirations (on the retirement list) and Carte Postale
  • Paper: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Brocade Background DP
  • Ink: Black Stazon, River Rock, Versa Mark, Craft White. Old Olive Marker.
  • Accessories: Theater Ribbon Originals, 1 1/2″ circle punch, mounting tape, pop dots.

Now this card was a really fun one. I was getting tired and a bit punchy, so decided to go with the off-kilter look — works for me!!! This is really quick to put together and it features my favorite flower from Sassy Stems which is on the retirement list. I like the feeling of motion this card evokes. The flower appears to be in motion and the off-kilter panels enhance that. The hardware piece on the bottom with the ribbon actually does dangle and move, and I like that in this card. Sometimes movement on a card drives me nuts, but I like it here — it just *fits*!!! The fun paper is Dashing, and I think it suits this flower just perfectly!!!

  • Stamps: Sassy Stems (on the retirement list)
  • Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Dashing DP.
  • Ink: Black Stazon. Reinkers in Rose Red, Real Red, Old Olive.
  • Accessories: Blender pen, Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

That’s it for tonight! Thanks much for stopping in!!!! I have a fun Stamp Simply Challenge planned for Friday. It’s something I have never done before, so I *hope* it’s simple — LOL — it is!!! Hope you can come back then and play!!! However, I do hope to have another upload before then. I just got 2 brand spanking new sets out by Flourishes!!! Look for them here soon!!!

Both are beautiful. I finally got a chance to sit down and look thru the retirement list — I’m surprised at how many good ones are retiring. I’m fairly new to SU so I’m not used to it, but I am surprised at how people just carry on. 😉

I love both of these cards but my favorite has to be the first one because I love the brocade background paper too. It is so elegant on this card, I am always amazed at how you tie the details of your cards together. What a lucky group you have who get to make these gorgeous make and takes!
