Cuttle-Pal Chick and Answers

Published by at 3 37 am under Baby Cards,Stampin' Up! Projects

I am so sorry to bore you folks to death, but I just can’t get off this kick! I am *so* into these super simple and quick cards lately using a combination of the Cuttlebug and Scor-Pal, and I can’t seem to put Nursery Necessities away – I just love it!!! Here’s my latest:

girlie-cuttle-pal-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is made in a similar fashion to the cards in my previous posts. White panel is 4 x 5.25″. The small folder was used to emboss with the Cuttlebug. Place the folder in the center, run through the CB, then do each side, so it is going through the CB 3 times. Then take it to the Scor-Pal, turn it upside down so the embossed squares are facing the table (wrong side up), line up the top of the embossed square on the4 1/2″ line, then score at the 4 1/4 and 4″ lines, pressing hard and going over it twice to get a good impression. Turn it over and it should look like the above. Stamp as shown, attach ribbon to panel, attach completed panel to card base — done!!! Another super quickie with the use of good and fun tools!!!

  • Stamps: Nursery Necessities
  • Paper: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
  • Ink: Pretty in Pink and Basic Black Markers, Black Stazon
  • Accessories: Ribbon, Cuttlebug, Stitched Squares Embossing Folder, Scor-Pal

ETA: And now that I see this on the monitor, I notice my little chickies need some eyes –a little black dot will do it — so often I think I’m *done*, then when I see it on the monitor some *unfinished* aspect of it just jumps out atme!!! Oh well — easy enough to fix!!!

My last few posts have generated a lot of questions, so I guess that means I didn’t do a very good job of explaining things — so rather than answer all the emails, I’ll try to address the questions here — and there are basically only 2 questions, but they’ve been asked repeatedly:

1) A lot of you out there are unaware of what the small folder is – so here’s a picture — it’s on the same size display card as the full size folder, it contains 4 small folders, is about $6. I got mine from Michael’s, but if you Google search for Cuttlebug, a ton of places will pop up where you can order them online. The two sets I have are called Stitched Squares and Fancy Corners. Here’s the picture:

cb-small-folders-520-notime.jpg

2) Everyone wanted to know the exact size of the box I used here. I will be the first to admit, the Clear Bagsite is not the most user friendly! The box you see in that post is 4 1/2″ x 5 7/8″ x 1″ thick. It is item number FB17, and is found on this page. From that same page I also ordered FB6, which is 1/2″thick, and FB3, which is 5/8″ thick, though I haven’t yet used either of those 2 sizes.

That’s it , once again!!! Stay tuned for some fun uploads at SCS on Thursday, the 20th. Not sure if I can say or if it’s a secret,so I won’t — LOL!!! But keep your eyes open, and I’ll post here very early on Thursday and spill the beans then!!! Thanks much!!!

Have always looked at these small folders and wondered if I could get creative enough to use them and have come up blank (that one creative gene shut down big time!). You’ve done wonders with them so may have to relook at them again. Love all the different cards you’ve made with that set and love the BC and Scorepal combo cards. May have to add a Scorepal to my list now too – good thing my birthday is in January!

  14. Viv (VivLyn) says:

This card is simply adorable! Love the cards you used with the small Cuttlebug folders! I will have to give it a try. Do you like the Scor-Pal better than SU’s cutter with the scoring blade? Does it do anything else? I’m debating on whether I *need* one or not.

Oh Sharon – I didn’t think I’d ever need any of the small cuttlebug embossing folders. Just goes to show what I know! Now I’m on a mission to find them. Thanks for inspiring me once again and giving me and the recipients of my cards such fun! I love to visit your blog.

  22. Julie says:

    Hi Sharon,
Your embossed cards are beautiful and I went right to my stamp room to try them. However, I kept getting the lines of the embossing folder imprinted into my cardstock also. What do you do to prevent this from happening?

  29. Billie says:

Sure, I know what the small folders are, I just didn’t know what to do with mine until I went to Notime!! I love your ideas.

  30. Stacy says:

    Very sweet little card!!!!

  31. LeAnne says:

This is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!! Santa brought me a Cuttlebug early, so I don’t have any folders yet….but I know which one is going to be my first!!! CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!

  32. Michelle (sf9erfan on SCS) says:

    Hi Sharon,

OK, your cards are SUPER cute with the CB folders… I just HAD to try and case today. Went to Mike’s bought the folders and that’s were the similiarity ENDS! My card is a disaster!

How do you get the impression without the folder lines all around the little square? I centered them all perfectly, but the folder impressions are all around each and it looks a MESS. Also, my 2 scored lines are not straight in proportion with the squares, but that will get better with time. Meanwhile, how did you get those 3 squares without the lines ruining it?! Ackkkk….

  33. Catherine says:

Dang it! I just went to Michaels the other day to get the Fancy folders and now I have to go back to get the stiched folders =). Love your cards with these cuttlebug folders, love it, love it.
