Stamp Simply Challenge #18 – Tear it Up!

Challenge #18 – Keyword ssnotime18-There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Todays challenge is tohave some portion of your paper torn. So, tear it up!When I started stamping years ago,I would often tear my paper. Love the look, but just NEVERremember to do it anymore, so we’re doing it today!!! Any kind of tornpaper, anywhere, as long as there is torn paper on your project. No other rules just have fun! But remember, the theme of my challenges in generalis to *stamp simply*, so lets just keep that in mind!

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma. Please come back here to post (as a comment) that youve played, and provide a linkso I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before. If thats you and you need help uploading, just go to my Challenge No. 1 here.

This is the sample I made. It’s the masculine sympathy card I’ll need for Saturday. I am also keywording it for Julia’s Ways to Use it Challenge on Thursday to use embossing powder. There are 3 different embossing powders used on this card. The trees are stamped in Versa Mark, then copper embossing powder is sprinkled over the lower portion of the trees, remove the excess powder, then sprinke silver powder over the tops of the trees, remove excess and heat to emboss. They look so pretty and wintery!! The sentiment is white embossed directly onto the designer paper. The main image panel is torn on the lower portion to expose the sentiment. 3 different ribbons were used on the top — wide SU grosgrain, narrow SU grosgrain and May Arts striped ribbon.

This is a really quick and easy card to make, but I think it is still pretty enough to catch someone’s eye! Hope so anyway!!!

  • Stamps: Winter Woods by Rubber Stampede; With Sympathy by Stampendous.
  • Paper: SU Whisper White and Brocade Background DP (retired SU).
  • Ink: Versa Mark
  • Accessories: Ribbon (1/4″ and 5/8″ grosgrain and May Arts striped), Embossing Powders in Copper, Silver and White.

That’s it for today! Hope you can find time to play if you are so inclined!!! As always, thanks much for stopping in.

OH, A QUESTION FOR MY FEEDBLITZ SUBSCRIBERS: Have you been getting daily notices of my uploads? I’ve uploaded each day this week, and it appears to me that the Feedblitz notices are not going out once again. You should have gotten one each day this week. Do you remember if you have? Thanks much!

Thanks Sharon for reminding us of this fun technique! I haven’t done it in so long. Have a wonderful day:)

  10. Lois (clownmom) says:

This is just lovely, Sharon. I like the way the color on the ends of the limbs is lighter than the rest of the tree. Sympathy cards are always a challenge, and this one is perfect.

As to your FeedBlitz question, it seems that I get your posting the day after you post. Not having had experience with this (FeedBlitz), I didn’t know if this was normal. Thus, you received my birthday wishes a day late! I came to your site directly today so that I could see the challenge.

  11. Mary says:

This is such a beautiful card & perfect for a male. Never thought of using two different EP colors. TFS.

  12. Mary says:

Yes, I have been getting your updates. Love it!!

  13. joyk says:

Love your beautiful card Sharon, and I hope to play! I love the duo-embossing on your trees…….looks spectacular!
I do get the Feedblitz notices but they always arrive a day late. For instance, this morning I got the notice about the Harlequin Sympathy card.

  14. Your sympathy cards are gorgeous! I used to tear paper all the time, but I haven’t in a while — thanks for the challenge!

  15. Kelley says:

I get them everyday, thank goodnes!! All you cards are great. I’m going to try one of your little cuttlebug folder cards. Just picked up some! Love those!

I have been facinated with your work for several weeks now. So beautiful – and so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your work and techniques.

As to Feedblitz – I, too, get everything a day late. Occasionally it is two days late. I’ve just hoy to remember to go to your site directly to stay current!

And Happy (Belated) Birthday! Us January babies are rare! (Mine is in 10 days . . .)

I’ll create an entry for your challenge sometime soon … love the challenge … I can’t even remember the last time I used the torn paper technique so this one should be lotsa fun!

  29. Sharon
What a beautiful card, especially a masculine one. I love those trees
    too. Barb

  30. Michelle (sf9erfan on SCS) says:

First, yes I got all the notices from Feedblitz this week. I get them the day after you post (Thursday’s post Friday morning, etc).

Second, great challenge. Tearing usually doesn’t appeal to me because I tend to make crisp cards. This outside my “box” so I am glad to give it a try!

Third, just lovely sympathy cards. I may have to case the masculine one. My friend’s grandfather just passed and I am in need of one today.

    Hugs, michelle
