Always, Plus Bundle

This card was made for Sunday’s FeaturedStamper Challenge at SCS,Kathyc. I’m a day late, but that’s OK. I have always loved Kathy’s work — what a great featured stamper!!! Here is her gallery. And here is her card that I chose to case. Here’s my card:

My card is 5.5″ square, my favorite size. This is my first inking of Always, and I thought this was a perfect format for that lovely bird image. I also used the gorgeous new Ginger Blossom DP. Just love the colors in this paper!!! As you can see, there is very little stamping on this card. It is more layering of pretty paper than anything else, and the only ink used is black. A very quick card to make. I did stamp the bird image directly on the DP, as I thought that print looked it needed to have this pretty bird on it — LOL! But in retrospect, I am wondering if perhaps I should have used a white sheet to stamp the bird on. I like this card plenty well the way it is, but when I make a card I always try to go for the POP that well layered colors can produce, and I’m lacking the POP in this card. I think having the black bird stamped on white paper would have produced that POP. I think I will try this card again, just to see — LOL!!! I have lightly distressed the black frame around the bird image. I always like something a little roughed up when I stamp birds, as it adds to the natural, earthy feel.

  • Stamps: Always
  • Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Ruby Red, Ginger Blossom DP
  • Ink: Black Stazon
  • Accessories: Ribbon, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8″ round punches, Distressing Tool on Cuter Kit, Mounting Tape, Pop Dot

Moving on tothe Valentine Bundle, I was asked by a customer to make her some samples of simple little tags and cards she could make with her new Valentine Bundle, bearing in mind she doesn’t have a lot of other supplies. She plans to maketreat bags and cards for her sons classmates. I came up with the following super simple items, all very quick and easy, using items contained in the Valentine Bundle:

carmen-bag-toppers-520-wm-notime.jpg

These are 2 toppers for the cello bags in the bundle. They were cut 4 x 4 and scored in 1/2 fora 2 x 4 topper, simply decorated with ribbon and the tag punches. However, for someone lacking the tag punches, these are fairly easy to cut with scissors. To attach the ribbon, I used supplies most would have at home — a standard office 1/4″ round punch on the pink topper and a staple on the red topper.

The small little tag is mounted on the white cardstock only so you can see it clearly. I’ve had a few readers ask me to explain how to make these. Very simply — punch out your tag with the small tag punch, punch the frame from colored cardstock with the larger tag punch, adhere together, punch a hole in the top with the horizontal slot punch, punch a strip of colored cardstock with the word window punch, fold it in 1/2 and run it through the slot, using your piercer poke a hole near the top and add a brad to keep it together. Don’t go too high up with your brad or else the brad prongs will show and stick out and you’ll have to fuss with them. Just punch down far enough and you’ll be OK. That’s it!!! I love these cute and quick little tags. They were very popular on SCS when I first started hanging out over there, so I honestly don’t know who was the mastermind behind them. Anyone know? Maybe it was even SU?

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Since my last post using the Scor-It, I have been receiving a lot of requests asking which one I would buy. Well, I’m blessed to have both, and asking which I prefer is kind of like asking which child you like best — LOL!!! I LOVE all my tools and toys!!! Give me a couple days, but I will post pictures of each the Scor-It and the Scor-Pal, and list the attributes of each, so each of you can decide for yourselves.

Once again, I just want to say thanks for stopping in!!! I truly do appreciate it!!! Be back soon!!!

P.S. — I have no clue why this entire post isn’t showing on my home page. It has about 3 lines and then you have to click to get into it — so sorry — this happened to me once or twice before, and I never did figure out why. Hope my next post works right!!!

I love your bird card – so gorgeous!
So today’s the first time I’ve only seen the first couple lines of you post in Reader. Did you change your feed option? I sure hope not – I try to stop in & leave comments when I can, but other times (when I’m short on time) I like to quickly scan through my Reader entries. I’ll be so sad if I can no longer have my quick-Sharon-fix when I need it!!!! Sorry if I’m being too selfish. 😉

Hi! I sent the following questions to you via Splitcoast but I’m not sure I did it right, so I thought I would post it here too so you would see it.

I love your work and your blog! I want to order some of the cool clear boxes you have been using for gift sets of cards and was wondering if you also order the stretchy loops from that site (Clear Bags) to go around your sets? If you do, what size and type did you get for yours? I saw a photo of one of the sets with a silver cord around it, but I don’t know what size fits those boxes, and it is hard to tell from that site.

Also, can you answer or explain how to emboss an envelope with the small Cuttlebug embossing folders? I can’t figure out how to get them in that corner without it going all the way through the envelope and showing on the reverse side. Or maybe it is supposed to show on the reverse side…?? You can answer on your blog if you want to in case others may want to know this. Or, I could be the only one who can’t figure that out! haha!

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work with us all! I am way inspired by you!

    Hi Sharon,

I am so excited to see MY name on YOUR blog, LOL!!! Your Always card is just stunning and I can’t believe that you think it could pop even more than this!!! But I’ll wait (not so patiently) to see!! How fun that your post contains the Ginger Blossom paper and the Valentine bundle, both of which I should have this week! I’ll be back for a dose of inspiration once I have them in hand! I tried out your Valentine last week with the score lines and CB heart folder and it worked perfectly; I then had to order the small folders to try them; you’re such an enabler!! I love it all! Thank you so much!
