Beautiful Life

I needed to come upwitha card for everyone to do at a workshop next week, so I worked this into today’s Inspiration Challenge at SCS, that lovely living room, and my Stamp Simply Challenge of yesterday to use pretty things while still trying to keep it simple. Here it is:

I took the colors from the IC photo — though the room was rather neutral, I was detecting a soft blue and brown tones, and I believe the shape of my flowers is somewhat like the shape of the rug. The room had sort of a bare-bones feel, a lot of hard surfaceswith only a littleplush, so I tried to pick that up in my *empty space* on my card.

As far as my Stamp Simply Challenge, I used a new set that is so fun, calledA Beautiful Thing, and the pretty things I used here are the Chocolate Satin Ribbon which, although no longer available on the spool, it is still available in the Theater Ribbon Originals Pack. Also I just love that round medallion image, and I put a half pearl from the Pretties Kit in it — I think that is pretty. I also think the Floral background, stamped tone on tone is gorgeous! It adds so much to any card — it is one of my all time favorite background stamps!!! So, there we have it — 2 challenges and a workshop project yet to boot!!!

  • Stamps: A Beautiful Thing, Floral Background
  • Paper: Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
  • Ink: Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Pretties Kit, Theater Ribbon Originals, Ticket Corner Punch, and Round Punches in 1″ and 1 1/4″, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Sponge

And I do want to remind everyone that Flourishes is having a fun contest that runs all of February, with lots of prizes!!! It is a cake decorating contest — well, kind of!!! It is to make cards using Cake Decorating 101, which was one of their very first sets to come out. But it doesn’t have to be a cake — create whatever you can dream up from that set — there are lots of possibilities!!! Please check out the Flourishes Newsletter for a continuing series of articles, with photo tutorials, on a variety of ways in which you can use this set. And if you don’t have Cake Decorating 101 yet, no worries — it’s on sale right now and you can find it here — and you can still get it in plenty of time to play and enter the contest.

Also,Flourishes featured guest designer thisweek is Lisa Silver. You can read her interview here — it was so interesting to get to know more about Lisa and her life. Her work is amazing, too — you can check that out on her Blog here.

OK, that’s it for tonight — again, thanks so much for stopping in — I truly appreciate it!!! Have a great Sunday!!!

So beautiful! These colors are stunning together, I love mixing the richness of chocolate chip with pastels! It’s so pretty the way you colored the inside of the petals, it really brings out the blue in this card. I wanted to do this challenge, but ran out of time working on another inspiration piece. I may put this one on hold and attempt it after I complete a prior commitment. I kept seeing seashells, soft radiant seashells.

  27. This is so pretty! I love the blue and brown combo. The flower in this set makes me want it, if only I could get just the flower… Wonderful card, Sharon!
