Quick SAB Birthday!

Just a quick post tonight — this is a card I did for my hostess club ladies to do this week, showcasing one the the SAB sets, Birthday Whimsy. Love how quick and easy it is to produce a card with this set by paper piecing. Also, I used the layout of my last Friday’ challenge, which was this fun and easy sketch by Leslie Miller. And although Wild Wasabi was the least favorite of the new colors for me this year, it has really grown on me. I find it pairs up so well with so many of the colors. Here I’m using it again with Soft Sky — just love that combo! Here’s my card:

The Designer Paper used is Spring Silhouettes. The background is stamped tone on tone Soft Sky with the Floral background stamp. Again, the layout is from Leslie Miller, as used in my ssnotime22 challenge. The cake was first stamped on the white panel with Soft Sky, then stamped again on a white scrap with Wild Wasabi ink and cut out, then mounted on the panel over the Soft Sky cake with Dimensionals. However, just for fun, and because my Cuttlebug was out, I ran the green cake through the Cuttelbug after I cut it out, before adhering it. It gives a fun texure to the cake! The cake plate was lightly colored with a Soft Sky reinker and an aquapainter. The cake panel is mounted onto the card, over the ribbon, with mounting tape.

  • Stamps: Birthday Whimsy, Floral (background)
  • Paper: Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Spring Silhouettes DP
  • Ink: Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Black Stazon, So Saffron Marker (for flames)
  • Accessories: Ribbon, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds (the flames) , Aquapainter (the cake plate), Mounting Tape.

Thanks much for looking!!! Should get another SU sample up tomorrow!

I love this color combo, too, and I never would have thought to use it until I got this paper. So pretty! The blue really softens the Wasabi. I like how the layout worked for your card (thanks!). Everything you did makes this extra special!

    Hai

Can i know if you have a classic silver and white birhtday card for a 21 year old. Any suggestion on how to design it. I search for a classic birthday card for 21 year old, and i know that silver and white is the common one, but could not find any references. You might be just the person to help me. Thanks
