Marigold Morning Memories
It’s a busy weekend with a niece’s wedding, so I thought I’d prepare this post of oldies but goodies — well, not so sure they’re all good, but they are all old– LOL!!! Andthey bring back memories for me. These were all made in the fall of 2006 with SU stamps. I was trying out different coloring techniques, none of which succeeded or stuck — LOL!!! These days I am loving my Copics and trying to make an honest effort with them, unlike my earlier attempts as you’ll see below! And I will say, I LOVED Marigold Morning then and I STILL love it today, just wish I had some of that paper. It’s too bad that when a really great color appears in the In Colors that it is just automatically retired at years end– such a bummer — oh well, here’s my oldies:
This is probably the all time favorite autumn card I have ever made. Don’t know why I like it so much, I just do!!!
This is the first ATC I ever made. It was for a swap that Jen del Muro was running. I was pleased with it. Actually, I’ve only made one since. It is more romantic/vintage and is in the Dirty Dozen Gallery at SCS.
I made this for my DH’s 50th birthday. It was my one and only attempt with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. We didn’t seem to get along so well and I never tried again — LOL!!!
Same image again. I do love these fruit stamps and will never part with them. This was a pretty dismal attempt at water coloring — another technique I avoid as much as possible– LOL!!!!
This was a birthday card for our pastor who is an avid pheasant hunter. This is one of my very rare attempts to chalk an image — and it’s no wonder why I don’t try this more often — LOL!!! But actually, I really DID like the look of this card IRL, it just didn’t photo well (sure, you’re thinking — LOL)!!!
I made this card for our neighbor boy when he got the news that a leg tumor was NOT cancerous — yes, REJOICE!!! This was an SCS challenge to try out stipple brushes. Another thing I’ve probably never done again!!!
Gee, what a walk down memory lane. And now I’ve got myself wondering — with all these thingsI’m notparticularily crazy about doing, I wonder what it is that IDOdohere every day — LOL!!! I’ll have to think about that one!!! And I also find it interesting to note that though these cards are only 2 years old, I did not use ONE piece of DP on any of them — hmmmm — how times have changed!!!

Wonderful cards! I am lucky enough to still have some of that great cardstock.
Very pretty cards. I especially love the Definately Decorative Fern card. I have that stamp myself.
I walk down memory lane with my cards and whoaaa…..mine are not nearly as striking as your “old” cards are!! Your “feeble” attempts at some techniques are better than my “stay at it, they will improve” attempts are!! Barb S.
All these cards are lovely- you should definitely pull out the chalks and the watercolors, etc, again! You do beautiful work!

Sharon, you are too hard on yourself. These cards are all beautiful!! I sure do love the sentiment on your husband’s birthday card. I hope when my DH’s next b.d. comes I can borrow that sentiment – it says it all for me, too!! TFS

These may be oldies, but they certainly are GOODIES! I’ve always loved your Autumn cards! They represent our beautiful U.P. so beautifully– colors, crisp feel…etc…

You had me chuckling the whole time while reading your critiques of each card displayed. While I think each card is a gem, you were down grading your efforts with each technique. I’m sure your husband, pastor and neighbor boy appreciated receiving your cards and certainly didn’t scrutinize your art work. For us ‘amateurs’, viewing your cards is a privilege and with each card another lesson learned. Thanks for sharing.

Marigold Morning is one of my favorite in colors. Every now and then I find a piece (mixed in with other scraps I’ve yet to file) and am thrilled. Sharon I think these cards are so pretty and the techniques look great! TFS!!
Love what you did with the kalaidoscope pad! Your ATC is really pretty too! I haven’t made one yet. A really lovely DH card! Your watercoloring looks good to me! That’s what I do mostly. Funny how all of us are so different. My chalked images always look like this too. I have found out it looks lovely on Cuttlebug embossed raised areas. Sharon, I just love this. What a piece of art. The colors are so Fall and warm.

I’m cracking up as I read all of your comments on Prisma colored pencils, watercolor, chalks, etc. Give me a week with you and you’ll be singing a different tune! These cards are all gorgeous Sharon, I love them! It was fun taking a walk down memory lane, like looking at an old album of past photos.

I think that they are all wonderful and maybe you should give those techniques another chance- we are all our own worst critic- because I think they are lovely! Regardless of how you view your coloring abilities you’ve always made beautiful cards. I’ve thought so from the moment I discovered your SCS gallery. I especially like your watercoloring attempt. I think it’s pretty darn good! And now you’re doing fabulous work with those Copics. This sure was a fun post and it did give me a chuckle! I remember how much you loved Marigold Morning. Gosh, this was quite a walk down Memory Lane for me, too! Thanks for the fun!
