Today’s Blog Candy was graciously donated by Marco’s Paper. From reading past comments I realize many of you are familiar with Marco’s Paper, but I wasn’t until a few months ago and, oh my goodness, what a store!!! Totally filled with paper and supplies for any paper crafter!!! Today we have from Marco’s Paper15 sheetsof the Accordion Cardstock that I used on this post the other day. It is 5.5″ x 25″ and makes doing accordion projects so easy. We also have a pack of 1/2 sheets of the Mirri Reflective Card that I’ve been using so much lately – OH, do I LOVE this paper. If you’ve never used it, you’ll be in for a treat! It is highly reflective — truly a mirrored surface — and it works up SO nicely into pretty, elegant cards. It adds such a richness and class — I just love it!!! It comes in a large variety of colors and this pack has samplings of them all. I did open my pack and have it spread out so you can see the colors. And you can also see in the photo how highly reflective it truly is! Also we have a package of 50 White Announcement Envelopes in A-2 size. THANK YOU MARCO’S PAPER!!!! MUCH APPRECIATED!!! And in doing these links, I just noticed their announcement on the home page about FREE shipping with a $50 purchase through Dec 15 — that’s Monday!!! Just letting you know!

I played in Dee’s challenge today to come up with ways to attractively package gifts of food. Food gifts are SO totally practical and I think always appreciated, so it’ll be fun to see what everyone comes up with! My project today is SO simple. I took an already pretty bag of Ghirardelli Chocolate Peppermint Coffee. It was done in candy cane stripes of red and white which, much to my glee, was the EXACT same color as the red Mirri Card that I wanted to use today!!! AllI did was wrap with ribbon, attach my Merry Christmas sentiment medallion, hang on a tag, make a simple card to match, and DONE!!! It turned a lovely, but simple, bag of coffee into a WOW gift item!!!
The sentiment medallion is made with the Christmas Ensemble by JustRite, using the Harmony Classic Circle Stamper III, which happens to be my favorite size. And JustRite is having a sale now, until the 19th. Check it out here. I am disappointed in my photos of this project. The Merry Christmas is embossed in a mixture of SU Gold Detail Embossing Powder and Dazzling Diamonds. It is SO GORGEOUS IRL, and in these photos it just looks like I’ve stamped it with brown ink and didn’t even get a good image — so NOT true!!! I apologize for that, but my photo abilities are quite limited!!! Anyway, just believe me, it is a soft gold with a bit of Dazzling Diamond sparkle!!! Very eye-catching!!! That is layered onto a circle of the gold Mirri Card, then onto a layer of candy canes which is a border in the Christmas Ensemble, then finally onto the scalloped layer made with the Red Mirri Card!!! It’s SO pretty!!! All the cutting and embossing was done with my Petite Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders in the Cuttlebug. This Mirri Card, though heavy, cut like butter!!!
The For You ornament tag on top probably took a minute or less!!! And HOW pretty!!! I used my coordinating ornament die and embossing Folder for the Cuttlebug. I first cut the ornament with the die, then inserted it into the folder and ran it through. Made with this gold Mirri Card it looks JUST like a real ornament! Again, the Mirri Card ran through with the Cuttlebug die and folder with no problems. It has the heavy weight I love and still works like a charm with all my tools!
Here’s the card I made to coordinate. To make my candy cane border, I colored the border stamp from the Christmas Ensemblewith my SU markers in red and black, stamped it, then colored in the flowers with my Spica Glitter Pens by Copic, using Gold, Red, and Olive. And on the card I added this strip of ribbed Mirri Card. Another quick dress-me-up idea that is so effortless. Here’s how I did it.
My strip is 1.5″ wide. This was just a scrap left over. Using my Scor-It, I quickly and easily embossed it (scored it) every 1/4 “. So easy to do with the well-marked ruler on top. Just score and keep moving it over 1/4” at a time. LOVE the rich look it adds. And again, this Mirri Card is quite heavy, but my Scor-It scoring tool glided over it making a perfect score with no effort at all. When you do this, be sure to start with a longer piece of paper than you need. Remember, as you score, it eats up length and you end up with a shorter piece. Start long enough, then cut off what you don’t need when all is said and done!
And that takes care of today’s project!!! Hope you liked it — it WAS so super fun, simple and quick!!! It would be great to do up a few of these just to keep on hand for those surprise visitors or extra gifts we so often need at the last minute!!! Sure to please!!! I just love your Christmas creations done with the Just Rite Christmas Ensemble. Such neat things can be done with it. I have been enjoying following your celebration. I tend to like the Holiday papers and the nostalgic designs. I don’t necessarily lean toward a particular brand.

I use decorative paper of any variety and having been using a lot of kraft cardstock for masculine cards.
I like to use vellum on cards, especially like it for a saying, tearing the edges around the words.
I also use the cute designs on wrapping paper for nice images on cards 🙂
I really love fun colored patterned paper on cards. I normally go with K&Company or DCWV. I mostly stick with cardstock since it’s what I know 🙂

I like others have said before use vellum often. I think it adds an elegant element to my cardmaking. The only other paper I have used for my cards is designer paper used in scrapbooking. Thanks Sharon and Marcos Papers for todays blog candy offer. darlene

The mirrored cardstock is fabulous and fun – even my kids love it! I use BasicGrey most often, then Stampin Up patterned papers. In fact I use a lot of SU colored cardstock as well. I am not picky though – just about every company that’s ever made paper is in my stash someway or another!

DCWV is my most commonly used paper simply because it’s so much more economical than by-the-sheet. But if the craft store is running a really good sale, I can get all sorts of cool stuff!
I use Stampin up Card stock for all my projects, unless I have a better match with Bazzil… I am hoping to try some of the new paper with the coordinating cores…
Outside of basic solid cardstock, I use and love Basic Grey the best. But, I am finding I really am not aware of what all is out there available. For example, I have never seen mirrored paper or long paper for accordian style projects. I have learned so much from blogs in the last couple of weeks, it is amazing. I am not sure how I even found your blog but I think it may have been through SCS when searching about JustRite monograms. Since then, it has gotten crazy (nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug embossing folders). Next it will be this mirrored paper and a Scor-it!! My husband doesn’t realize that I just keep buying my own Christmas presents this year!! It will be an easy one on him!
I really don’t use any one type of paper the most. I really love patterned paper and will mix and match papers from different companies. That said, lately I’ve been in love with Basic Grey papers.
Besides cardstock I use Patterned Paper ALOT!!!! But I also use Vellum quite a bit! Beautiful project!

Happy Holidays! I must say my favorite card stock of all time is: Whisper White by Stampin’ Up. It is such yummy/gorgeous paper to work with. I did hear a rumor that Marco’s Paper carried a very comparable card stock but I never found out what it was called.

I love designer paper and since I am an old-fashioned girl at heart, the beautiful papers made by K&Co. are probably my Number One favorites, in a dead heat with Anna Griffin’s papers, which I also adore. I use lovely florals and papers with vintage patterns of fronds and scrolls a lot as backgrounds. I’m itching to try this new paper, however. Getting paper that length is a treat!
i love SU double-sided designer papers – there are so many possibilities, and they match my inks and stamps, so it’s a match made in heaven 🙂 keep the great project ideas coming – fabulous stuff!!

I like using Stardream paper and Watercolor paper… Stardream is very shiny and it looks beautiful on cards. I love your cards..
I use lots and lots of patterned paper. I love finding patterns and colors that go together. I tend to accent with cardstock instead of the other way around.
My sister is a Stampin’ Up demo so I use quite a bit of their cardstock and Designer Paper. Another favorite is Bo Bunny, but I sure would love to win this packet of Marco Papers. Thanks for the chance.
I really like to use Basic Grey and Little Yellow Bicycle papers. I’ve only seen this Marco Paper in one store and that was out of town so I would really enjoy winning this package.
I use LOTS of SU paper, but have never really met a piece of paper I didn’t like. I’ve been known to use junk mail, my handmade papers, old book pages, bits of letters I’ve received…. I love 12X12 sheets of scrapbook paper, though I don’t scrapbook. There are tons of wonderful designs available. I don’t know how I’ve missed these, but I’ve never heard of Marco Papers. I’ve been looking for some extra long papers for some projects and would love to get my hands on some of these. They look luscious! Thanks for letting us all play along!
I buy all kinds of DSP’s but I find myself actuallu using American Crafts the most. I like that it is two-sided and always gives me a match if i don’t have a close match with my SU! cardstock colors. I think they coordinate well
and offer a lot of variety. I altered some nut containers for christmas gifts and am also making some coordinating genie bag for homemade chocolates.

If I have to pick one favorite it would be Basicgrey patterned papers. Great food wrapping ideas.

The type of paper that I use most often, besides cardstock is handmade paper! I LOVE handmade papers of all kinds and have even made my own paper. Textures are something that always add that something extra to a project.
I have just started using glossy paper to use with alcohol inks and I love it. You get such nice, crisp images on it and alcohol or dye inks are so gorgeous and brilliant!
I love using vellum with my cardstocks, especially when using vivid colors. It softens and gives an ethereal effect. Also dry embossing vellum is spectacular. Have just started using Cosmo Cricket DP’s. These are also wonderful.
Those metallics are yummy!!! I’ve not seen anything IRL from Marco’s. I use PaperTrey Ink’s cardstock the most right now, with Stampin’Up! being next in line.

If I’m not using cardstock I’m using Watercolor paper and patterned paper, mostly Basic Grey.
I’m just getting into using stuff other than cardstock. I love the American Crafts Christmas medium weight cardstock pack I picked up – the designs are not too busy and are small enough to look nice when I’ve cut it up into small shapes. I also liked using that stuff (forget what it’s called) – lots of chunky fibers in it that tear nicely.

Since I’m fairly new to stamping/card making I mainly use cardstock and designer paper. I just LOVE paper. I could play with it all day! hehe! Your blog candy looks like a lot of fun! I love what you did with it.
Since I am more of party favor/candy wrapper I use photo paper and a gloss paper along with my card stock, I just now trying to get into card making.

I have been using 2 sided paper from Sam’s Club. Marco’s Paper had the longest line at the first and only Stamping Convention I went to..and of course I wasn’t willing to wait that long.. 🙁

I would say that after reaching for the decorative paper, my next biggest “paper use” would be vellum…what a versatile product THAT is.

The paper I use most apart from standard white and cream cardstock is patterned Basic Grey or Anna Griffin….I just can’t get enough of it…but at this festive time…you just can’t beat a good red mirror cardstock.
Love the shiny paper you used – I’m going to have to look into getting some of it. One of my favorite “papers” to use is cork. It gives a nice rustic feel to cards. It is actually gasket material from the auto parts store.
Lately since I am only making Christmas cards, I have been using a lot of metallic paper. I only have red, gold and silver. I was just thinking the other day that it would be great to have some other colors. Hope I win your blog candy!

I’ve slowly been joining the DP crowd. I used to feel like I was “cheating” by not stamping my backgrounds. Now I’m really loving the DP’s, seeing what colors I can accent, matching patterns to my card-recipients’ personalities, scouring clearance racks to see what beautiful bargains I can add to my collection, etc. And yes, Sharon, Marco’s is AWESOME!

I have all kinds of pretty paper. I don’t use any specific company. I always buy lots of paper when it goes on sale. I probably have a lot of pinks and reds. Just realized the other day, I have no black. I’ll have to do something about that soon.

I have been using quite a lot of patterned paper lately for my cards. I always have to use 2 different patterns with one always being a stripe and the other usually floral or paper themed with a particular season. Thanks for the chance to win.
Oh – I would love to try out these papers! I haven’t tried the mirrored paper, but your sample with it is gorgeous. I’ve ben using designer paper more and more often in my projects of late. I just love the ways you have used the mirror cardstock. Although I have never purchased any, I will have to get some. I have ordered from Marco’s many times since discovering them at a stamp convention many years ago. Wonderful source if you need to make wedding invites, etc. They have the best vellum for computer printing (never blurs or bleeds), many kinds and colors of cardstock & envelopes, and great prices!
Believe it or not, for my Christmas cards I like to use the end cuts from The Paper Cut. I get them at a stamp convention, and I challege myself to use them. Lots of shimmery and mirror papers. I love them. I also like the dp from Stamping Up.
I always use some form of the yummy DP’s available right now … there is so much to choose from. Thanks for sharing another wonderful gift giving idea.

That ornament is spectacular….love it…..I do not use any one particular brand of DP, but what I like to do is use several matching ones in one project….actually I am using less and less plain cardstock and more DP. I love using the shimmery paper that I think is made by Paper Company. Heat embossing looks great on it. It adds a beautiful touch to any card or project I am working on, is really thick.
I mostly use Stampin Up cardstock, but have been branching out lately. I did know about Marco’s but I didn’t know about the mirrored paper, definitely have to thy some of it!

I love Whisper White and Very Vanilla for images but I use The Paper Company the most for other papers. Also a lot of DCWV. I have bought all my Nestibilities from Marco Papers and love the service…you speak to a real live person!

really, i use mostly card stock and designer series paper. your projects today are awesome!
I like any kind of double sided paper. You can do so many things with it. I especially like the brightly colored papers or the vintage papers. Those are my 2 favorites.

I love using patterned paper, no particular brand. I go to the LSS store and choose individual sheets that attract my attention. I would love to try the accordian paper. I saw a tutorial on accordian cards and would love to try them.

Oh, I wish there was a Marco Papers close to where we live. I love paper…cardstock, DSP, etc and the more the merrier! Since we don’t have a LSS anymore, I mainly use Stampin’ Up carstock, though for special cards, I will “dip” into my “treasured” linen cardstock stash. I love linen cardstock and when my LSS was going out of business, I bought a lot! Thanks for a chance to win this awesome blog candy!!
Believe it or not..I like to use coffee filters! You can use your reinkers to make the most amazing designs, and use any color combo you want…just with the drop of a color….
I use Brazill (spell?) and Stampin Up cardstock.

Historically I have used mostly SU’s colored cardstocks. I’ve used “whisper white” from Marcos for the past couple years because I go through that so much. In the past half year I’m wanting to incorporate other papers and card stocks for ‘speed’ and pizzaz. I’ve just recently discovered your blog and have started following it regularly… LOVE your work! I love to use Basic Grey’s 6X6 packs for card-making. It’s so easy with the co-ordinated papers. I haven’t heard of the Mirri papers before and they are gorgeous. I loved the cards you made with the Scandinavian stamps. Thanks for sharing your talent!

I use a lot of patterned paper and shimmer cardstock these days. I keep looking at the Mirri Card on the Marco’s Paper site. Inspired by your lovely creations I know that one of these days I’ll actually place an order.
I’m not brand specific to Designer Papers – I just go with what appeals at the moment – but I have recently discovered the Designer Papers from The Angel Company and I have to say “WOW!” to those.
I go through a LOT of watercolour pads, because most my colouring is done with tombow markers or watercolour pencils. Other than that, I use DP.
This is the first I am hearing about Marco papers, so I’m excited to go look around their website!

The paper I use other than card stock is any cute DP i see strolling the aisles at my local scrap store. I love Sassafras, Cosmo Cricket, and more
I love your project. It is very festive looking. I have been using special papers from Marco’s for many years, after meeting them in a stamp/scrap booth for the first time.
I definitely use patterned paper most but when you posted about metallic paper about a week ago, it inspired me to dig through my stash and I found some that I’ve had for years and I’ve been using it recently. Thanks for the inspiration.
I use the foil papers on most of my cards because you can use it behind any image and it just makes it more elegant looking. That is what caught my eye in your picture – the shine!
i use patterned paper and I gravitate to polka dots and stripes. I picked up some mirror card at my local stamp store. She actually had only two sheets of copper left but I had to try it after seeing it on your blog.

I love that mirrored cardstock. I received some (not sure what brand) as a gift a few years ago. You have inspired me to cut it up! I always use SU cardstock because it matches my ink pads and markers. I purchase SU designer paper but have also purchased some Basic Gray and K&Company designer paper. I have not heard of Marco’s paper but will need to check them out. I always love everything you suggest.
I use patterned paper, not a specific brand just what ever hits me at the time. I love how you used the reflective paper to make your ornament! I would love some to play with! Thanks. 🙂
Lately I have been lovin using foil paper! It adds so much to a simple card! Woohoo! And also like to use matching pp, CTMH is one and BG. Love it all.

Other than standard cardstock I like to use patterned paper from stacks as mats for scrapbook pages or cards. Stacks are very affordable but always include lots of papers that I would never use for a whole scrapbook page but that look wonderful with only a small edge showing around a picture or behind a card image.

I use the usual papers like decorative pages, glossy cardstock, vellum and watercolor paper. I always seem to be at a loss as to what to do with others! LOL
I like to use Translucent paper, glossy cardstock, and Textured Bazzill papers.

Because I am a SU demo I use SU designer papers the most, but I do love Basic Grey because of the heavy wt. and beautiful designs. I am using Papertreyinks Premium White 110# also for my main cardstock too.

I find I use SU designer papers, as well as a variety of printed papers from Michael’s and Cranberry Hill. It’s always fun to mix and match!
Other than cardstock I use a lot of patterned/printed paper; mostly from K&Co and DCWV.

I actually use the metallic papers on my Christmas cards. I love to use them as mats for layering. I then emboss my greeting with gold or silver to match. I tend to use lots of Christmas patterned paper, too. Stamps and beautiful papers, I just love ’em!!!

I am very lucky. I live in Ohio and we have a place called Hollo’s that sells 8 1/2 x 11 and 12×12 cardstock for $1.25 a POUND.
Every few months I go and spend around $20 and come out of there with so much cardstock and envelopes.
I would LOVE to win this long paper as I have the stamps and the shiny paper to make the card.

I also have used the pictures from a tear off page- a -day calendar. I have one by one of my favorite designers and have used the cracked glass technique with those. I like to use Stampin Up’s DSP on cards but I often forget that I own it. I have used mirrored cardstock like you have here before in silver and gold for Christmas cards and I loved the way it looked! You red is beautiful!

I use vellum quite a bit because I love the elegance of it. The other item I use is wrapping paper, there is so much to choose from these days. P.S. I LOVE MARCO’s and their service is totally incredible.

I love the cards you’ve made using the mirrored silver paper! I would love to try some myself! I typically use Stampin’ Up cardstock and designer paper but lately I’ve been branching out. But I need a project in mind before I’ll commit the cash — otherwise I end up with stacks of it that I never get around to using.
I would have to say the paper I use the most besides cardstock is patterned paper. I don’t have a particular vendor I use. I like to use whatever appeals to my eye.

I mostly like small flowered designs or small checks. Country! I have some gold metallic paper that I love, but save for special occasions because of the cost. Paper Doll

Whoa – that paper is SO COOL! Really, I just use traditional cardstock and DP. Occassionally I use some glossy cardstock from Stampin’ Up! to use with Dazzling Diamonds for a glittered effect, but that is about it. I need some variety eh?

Hello Sharon, other than standard cardstock, my most-used paper would be quality patterned papers! After gettting “bargained out” on slabs and stacks of patterned paper, I started being more selective and both purchase and enjoy using Basic Grey! 🙂 TFS your wonderful and cheery packaging idea!!!
About the only paper I use besides basic, solid colored card stock is patterned paper from various sources. Occasionally, I’ll add vellum, if I can hide the adhesive or use brads with it.

Well, I am a Close to My Heart Consultant so I constantly have patterned paper samples lying around. That is what I use most often. But I would love a chance to win this paper, I think it would dress up most any paper.

Lately I’ve taken a liking to oragami paper & funky films.
I just bought a big pad of bold-designed paper from either K&Company or DCWV. Got it at AC Moore–my first such paper, and it’s so exciting to use! I also use magazines and oragami paper.
Other than cardstock I often use patterned paper. No specific brand. I do purchase a lot of DCWV at JoAnne’s when on sale and one pad goes a looooong way! Question: on the candy cane border I noticed the colors gold, red and green. How did you achieve the multi-colored affect and still make it a quick project?
I love mirrored cardstock. I have never seen a combo package though, how fun is that. I am truly a paper junkie. Just can’t get enough. And sadly have missed the last couple of stamping expos in our area. It breaks my heart!

I llike to mix patterns with cardstock – this has always been a challenge for me. Would love to have the Marco’s papers to “dress up” my cards.
I love to use prints and metallics with cardstock and do it all the time. lately I’ve been trying to incorporate more vellum into my projects but I guess I’m kind of intimidated by it – and afraid I’ll crease it – it seems more fragile somehow. Thanks for another great day of ideas!
my favorite stuff to use is DP patterned paper that matches a theme or idea of my card. It adds the extra special touch and makes the card all that more interesting. Thak you for the candy opportunitiy.
Hi Sharon, love the food gift packages. Next to cardstock the paper I use the most is basic printer paper. Sometimes I type long letters to send in my handmade cards. Yup, I type them because they can be lengthy and my writing is not the best. Thanks for another opportunity!
I like to use striped paper with my solid cardstock.
I like to use designer paper or vellum.
The paper I would use most other than standard cardstock would have to be designer paper. I am trying to branch out and use designer papers more.

Aside from the standard cardstock for my base, I use a lot of designer papers, BasicGrey and vellum. I like accenting with patterned background papers and Japanese washi. I’m not familiar with Marco’s Paper and would love to be able to work with it. Thank you for this chance.

My favorite papers I guess would be vellum & mulberry paper
I must admit that I’m pretty conventional about just using cardstock but I do have some handmade paper with flowers in it and some lightweight paper with oriental designs that I like to use.
I use vellum and metallic cardstock a lot and have been thinking I need to purchase some of that wonderfully, shiny mirrored cardstock you have been working with lately!
I like Beckett Expression for Cuttling and coloring. As far as decorative papers, I’m not picky as to brand, just whatever catches my eye. I do like double sided paper.
Unfortunately I haven’t experimented much with any paper other than the regular cardstock. I’ve used the metallic CS and love it!

I have never seen that mirri type paper before. The paper I use most often besides cardstock would be designer series paper by Stampin’ Up.
I have a real fondness for metallic papers…especially coppery ones!
Other than standard cardstock, I love designer papers! I’m pretty boring that way! Maybe these papers will spice things up for me!
Hi Sharon, Been too sick to see everything you’ve done but trying to catch up…the brain isn’t well enough to play yet but WOW is all I can say. Love, love Crate Paper DP of any kind. That Mirri card is gorgeous!! Just wish Marco’s had an online cart.
Not sure if I could pick one favourite – I enjoy using various patterned papers if they are suitable to the card that I am making.
Love these projects! They all incorporate simple things that you can throw together, but look REALLY great together. I love the idea of the ribbed paper on the front.

I paper I use most in addition to cardstock is a heavy weight stationary paper. I use it for the notes inside cards, journaling areas, and mostly computer printout titles or words. I got it at ExPedX years ago and I have about 1/3 of the package left. My favorite is EverGreen 30PB Script, Birch, Vellum, 24 lb by the Fox River Paper Co. It’s a great off-white color and can be used in any color card and it has the slightest flecks in it so it looks kinda rustic but elegant at the same time.

I don’t know if you want a brand or just the type of paper. I love love love K&Company cardstock paper–I wait every season to see what new things they will come out with. The only problem is I can’t bear to use any of it–I just hoard it. =) Naz

As for cardstock, I love using Stampin Up’s Shimmery cardstock. I use designer series papers from Stampin Up the most. They are soooooo easy to play with. Thanks again for this offer!!! Make it a great day!!!!!

I love adding any kind of glittered paper to my creations….I am a total girlie girl….all about the sparkle and bling! I have not heard of the Marco papers but after seeing what you have done with them I know that I have to get me some! Your work is STUNNING!

Besides cardstock I use all the beautiful patterned paper that is out there.
That paper is beautiful. I like to use patterned paper with my cardstock. I like PTI’s patterned paper but I recently found some at Walmart that I like also.
I dotn get to venture out much (three klittle kids & deployed husband) so I pretty much stick to SU’s Designer Paper. Boring, I know. :o)
Love your ideas for the Just Rite Xmas set which I haven’t used as much as I thought yet. As far as paper, I use SU colored cardstock and then whatever I have. I have an ‘in’ at a print shop and he gives me all the white/ivory scrapes I want. The mirror CS is really nice and looks fun to play with…pick me!!!

I am using scrapbook paper more on my cards to compliment the stamping.
I love folded elements, such as the dahlia folded flower and library card pocket gift-card holders, so double-sided paper has become my new favorite paper! I have a Cuttlebug coming for Christmas this year, so your blog candy would really hit the spot – can’t wait to try cutting and embossing this reflective paper!!
