Smell the Coffee!

I haven’t felt like coffee for a few days, but now I am really ready to Smell the Coffee — a delicious pot will be brewing in a matter of moments!!! I played the Color Challengetoday at SCS — what fun colors — Pink Pirouette, Perfect Plum andKiwi Kiss — they go perfectly with the papers in the Eva pad of DP by Basic Grey!!! Here’s my card for today:

Just a fun and simple card today. I colored those fun coffee cups last week while waiting for what seemed like forever in a hospital waiting room, so I was glad to see the colors worked for today!!! I think I colored 8 or 9 images that day, mostly coffee cards — LOL!!! So you’ll be seeing a lot of coffee cards from me in the near future!!! Not much else to say here — a pretty self-explanatory card. My pink is not Pink Pirouette, but rather is the pink inthe Eva DP pad.

Stamps: Smell the Coffee by Impression Obsession from Stampers Dream

Paper: White, SU Kiwi Kiss, Perfect Plum, Basic Grey Eva DP from Joan’s Garden

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black (sentiment), Memento Tuxedo Black(image), Copics to Color

Accessories: SU Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, SU Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Mounting Squares, Martha Stewart Lace Punch , Glue Glider

And speaking of the Basic Grey pads, does anyone have any great ideas for storing them? I am happy with my storage for 8.5 x 11 cardstock (in a file cabinet in hanging file folders), as well as with my storage for 12 x 12 cardstock and DP’s (in the plastic boxes that slide into the Iris carts – arranged by manufacturer), but I struggle with my 6 x 6 pads. The problem is once they get all torn apart, well used with lots of tiny scraps (which I NEVER throw away). I’d like to keep each pad separate from the others so I know which paper I’m using. I’ve been putting the pads into plastic zip lock bags, and it does keep them separated, but I just don’t like the zip lock bags — pulling them in and out, etc. It works, I’m just not totally happy with it. Anyone out there have a better system for 6 x 6 pad storage? Never hurts to ask!

Thanks much for stopping in today! We are having really warm temps for this time of year, which feels good!!! But I do know we have plenty of winter to endure yet, so we can consider these few warmer days a mere bonus!!! Hope you are all having a great week!

    Hi Sharon! Gorgeous card!

I am addicted to 6×6 pads, too. Mine are stored upright in a plastic ‘shoebox’ that’s about 10″ wide by 15″ across. 8×8 pads are also stored in there.

They look kind of like this: IIIIIIIIiiiiiiiii

They’re in order by manufacturer. Now, there are a few inches to spare on the side where the 6×6’s are. In that space, I have a Cropper Hopper 6 X 6 Vertical paper holder with scraps from other larger papers inside.

PLMK if you’d like a photo.

Hey, I have some pics of how I store my 6×6 pads. If you want, you can email me so I have your email addy, and I will email you the pictures. I plan on doing a blog post to show the pics, but may not get to it today. It’s not perfect, but it’s something…

    Hugs, michelle

Sharon, I love this!!! The domininance of the pink with the bg eva striped dp is stunning!!! I love this cluster of steaming coffee cups!!! Great coloring, too!!!

Ack! I love that coffee set!!! Super cute!!!

  14. This is fantastic Sharon! Love how you reversed the doily lace panel from the norm … looks awesome. And of course the hardware ribbon treatment is just “to die for cute” …
Don’t forget, we’d love you to come play the CS challenge this week … if you get the time of course!!

  15. Kim Chaltry says:

Very nice. I just took this same set out so I would make something with it this week. I must have purchased it at least 6 months ago and still haven’t used it. You gave me the inspiration I needed.
    Thanks!

  16. Wow, what a pretty card!!!! I can almost smelll that coffee all the in AZ, :D:D:D. Was kind of worried about you for a minute or two. Glad to hear that you are feeling better.
Love that paper as well, and I do agree with the pad falling apart. I just put a medium size clip (you know the ones that everybody was decorating for a while and putting pictures on the top!!!! Do you know what I am talking about?can’t think of the name to save my life) It works pretty well, and for my 6×6 pads to be all together I got one of those DVD plastic crates Walmart has for $1.

    Hugs, Sabrina

Yummilicous!! I’d love to know how to store my Basic Grey 6×6 pads too. I think I have every one of them and like you, I never throw a scrap away!! I’ll be checking back to see if you get any great suggestions!

  18. I have been using my BG 6×6 paper recently, too, and have been frustrated by this same problem. I’ll keep looking to see what others post. Oh, stunning card, btw! And I love the smell of coffee, but can’t get it passed my lips! I’m a tee-totaler! Glad you’re on the mend!

  19. Linda C. says:

I emailed Cropper Hopper asking them to make a 6X6 size. Maybe they need more people to email them. I love this card!!

  20. Pegg says:

I’m looking for a better way too – right now, I just put the scraps into the front of the pad — I have the pads all upright in a shelf so they don’t fall over. I’m thinking about getting a medium size check folder – maybe the scraps can fit in there and label every slot?

    Love the card!

  21. Oh, Sharon I really like this! I have this stamp set too! I just might have to CASE! Thanks for sharing.

  22. Elena says:

This card is adorable! I love the coffee smell!
I also wonderfing about how to keep those 6X6 DP…

  23. Rose Ann says:

Such a cute image, and I love the colors as well!!

I keep my 6×6 pads in a drawer of one of those plastic carts. I insert them upside down, so all of the little scrap pieces don’t fall out.

  24. Kelly L says:

Love this card, pretty colors, great stamp, and I really like the way you turned your scallop part up at the bottom — another great idea. I would also love to hear how others store their 6 x 6 pads. I currently keep mine binding part down and scraps stuck back in the pad on my shelf, but once they get out of control, I put them in ziplock baggies too. Like the shoebox idea Kim Ross mentioned above — definitely better than all these ziplock baggies 🙂 Kelly

  25. barb schram says:

LOVE the coffee cups, Sharon! The scallop piece is perfect…as is your coloring! I too, will be interested how everyone stores their 6 x 6 paper…sadly mine are a mess!

How cute is that and love that paper-glad you feel up to coffee again-I am having a big mug now mixed with a pack of 25 calorie hot cocoa mix and SF hazelnut syrup. Yummy.

  31. Deena says:

Very cute coffee card! Glad to hear you are feeling better, Sharon.

I have one of those cardboard tiered desktop paper holders and the front shortest slot holds 2 of my 6 X 6 pads side by side perfectly. It holds 4 full pads deep on each side. So I keep the 8 pads that I use most often right there on my desk. I always slip the scraps back into the pad too, to keep them sorted and if there are alot of scraps, I just flip the pad upside down so they don’t slip out the bottom. I use the next slot behind that for 8 1/2 X 11 cs, and the back slot (being the deepest) for my 12 X 12 dp. Love having it all close by, just wish I had more space on my desk to put more of them!

    smiles,Deena

  32. Kelly says:

Oh my gosh! I love this card! I used to have a coffee cup that color – it was one of my favorites – till I broke it on the front porch! 🙁 I think my coffee pot just finished brewing so it must be time for a cuppa! Can’t wait to see your future coffee designs!

  33. Shar says:

Fab cards! Love the way you used the color scheme! Can’t wait to see the rest of your coffee cards.

  34. Candy says:

I store mine in Ziplock baggies with the baggy labeled by collection. Then they are stored upright in a basket under my scrapping table. There’s a picture of them on my blog. Scroll down under organizing scraps.

Oh, I love this set! Isn’t it fun? I still have several images stamped and waiting to be colored but other things have pushed them to the background — Valentines and Flourishes. They’ll be showing up on cards in the near future, though. I love what you did with this stamp! BTW, I store my BG pads like you. I definitely need a system!

  40. […] next, just a few days ago I posed a question on my post, asking you all how you store your 6 x 6 Basic Grey pads, especially once they get torn apart with […]

I love your card too, love the swirls…..so art deco looking! I store my 6×6 and 8×8, for the time being, in Iris Cases in the shelf unit that my DH made for me. I would love a better way as well! Cindy
