Stamp Simply #88 – Red, White and Blue!

A couple announcements first:My apologies if this post looks odd or is poorly formatted. I have been having Blog issues all week long. They are being looked at by the men behind the scenes, but a fix is slow in coming. There isn’t much I can do but wait — so please bear with me on this frustrating issue!

Bow Easy update:I am still diligently billing and shipping. I am now billing orders placed on May 12, so I’m making a little headway. I am taking them in order, so please bear with me here, too. There was someone who wanted their order by May 30 for a function, and when I was out of town I promised I’d bill and ship as soon as I got home — and now I can’t find you — if that was you and you’re reading this, PLEASE let me know and I can still get it to you in time! So sorry —

To those of you who have written me asking to be on the list, PLEASE REST ASSURED YOU ARE ON THE LIST! I have not been able to take the time to acknowledge all your emails individually because if I did, I couldn’t get any mailed out. I WILL get to you all, I promise!!! Thank you for understanding!

Blog Candy winner:The winner of the JustRite Blog Candy posted a couple nights ago is Number 191 — and that was Sheila L. Here’s what Sheila had to say:

Prayers are on the way for your family. Its very difficult to choose just one setbut since I can only choose one, Id have to choose the caffeine borders and centers.

Sheila, Congrats!!! I tried to email you, but the address is failing. PLEASE CONTACT ME!!! And THANK YOU everyone who played along and for all your kind comments and prayers for my Dad — MUCH appreciated!!!

Keyword ssnotime88 – There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE – This being Memorial Day Weekend, patriotic colors come to mind, so let’s create today using red, white and blue; HOWEVER, you do NOT have to use the traditional flag shades of these colors – you may use ANY variation of these colors you like, as long as your creation contains some shade of red, white and blue. That’s easy enough!!! Hope you have fun!!! Can’t wait to see all your color combinations!

Check out the greatsamples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these designers:

Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night. You can see all Gallery Submissions here. What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!Here’s my red, white and blue creation for today:

A masculine grad card in the traditional red, white and blue! This grad’s party is on Memorial Day Weekend, so I thought it would fit. All images are gold embossed. The card is personalized with both the graduates initials and year, but by using the graduation border from one of the new JustRite sets, Favorite Occasions Set, this still lends itself to being a rather fast card. I like to use the Pinking Circles Nesties for grad/school themed cards a I think it makes the circular image look like a badge or medallion a student might receive for achievement — makes it fun! Then adding 3 strands of the 1/4″ Silk Ribbon adds to the medallion look. Here’s what I used:

dap-grad-product-440-notime.jpg

Times New Roman Uppercase Font was used for both the monogrammed medallion center as well as the year. The monogram was used on a 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper and the 2009 was used on a Rectangle Stamper. I punched the monogram with an SU 1 1/4″ punch. The Congrats border is from the new Favorite Occasions Set, also used with the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper. My border of cap/diploma images is also from the new Favorite Occasions Set, stamped repeatedly and embossed to create the border strip, also used on the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper. That’s about it — not difficult at all, yet this simple personalization makes it so special to the recipient! And I also LOVE gold or silver embossing on graduation cards — it classes them up so nicely — after all, graduation is an event deserving of something special!

Stamps: Favorite Occasions Set used on the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper; Times New Roman Uppercase Font used on the Harmony Rectangle Stamper.

Paper: SU Night of Navy, Real Red, White

Ink: Versa Mark

Accessories: Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder by Ranger; 1/4″ Silk Ribbon by May Arts from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, Stamp-a-ma-jig (to place the 2009); SU Corner Rounder and 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals; Petite Circle Nestabilities and Pinking Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders; Glue Glider.

Thank you so much for stopping in today, for bearing with me through my lack of posts and for these unsightly blog problems I’ve been having. Hopefully everything will get on a better track real soon! My Dad was moved today from ICU to a regular bed and is improving slowly. Your prayers are so appreciated — thank you so much! And spring is coming here, slow but sure, and that’s a good thing! Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends! See you soon!

I received my silk ribbon and Bow Easy. I just had to make a card with it and it took a bit to get my hands to work, but following the video diligently I figured it out and I am so impressed with my card. I will try to get it up on my blog tomorrow.

Thanks Sharon, and keep up the good work. I know this is so overwhelming for you – not what you expected, huh!

    Hi Sharon,

So glad to here that your dad is doing better. Isn’t it funny how the roles become reversed as our parents become older. I became the caretaker for my grandfather when he got sick and now I am becoming the caretaker for my mom (she has MS and can’t walk). Family is very important.

Here is my entry for today’s challenge
