Stamp Simply #102 – Let’s Leave our Comfort Zone

Let’s Leave our Comfort Zone — OK, we all know we have one and most of us don’t like to leave it, at least not for very long.  But today, that is just what we are going to do – we are going to leave our stamping style comfort zone and do a card or project in a style TOTALLY unlike what we normally do.  For example, if you always are drawn to doing cutesy things — go elegant, or masculine, or anything OTHER than cutesy.  Get the drift?  Do something that does NOT come natural to you.  THEN in your post, make sure you tell us what your usual style is and WHY this is different.  This will be fun!!!!

Keyword ssnotime102 – There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all. You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Check out the great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these fabulous designers:

Please bear with us all as we each upload and link on Thursday night.  Everyone should be up and set by Friday morning.

You may see all SCS Gallery Submissions here.

And here’s what I created for today:

whats-new-ocl-ladybug-360w-wm-notime.jpg

This is my attempt at creating a cutesy card!  Cutesy I am NOT!  So I used this adorably CUTE ladybug image from a set by Our Craft Lounge called Just Bugz! Is she cute, or what!!!  I really do love this clean and simple card, and what a FUN set to play with (more on that in a minute), but I do feel I rather failed at meeting the requirements of this challenge — so sorry.  I tried very hard to make this cutesy and *different* than my norm, but I think it looks pretty much like what I always do — LOL!!!!  I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?   But I tried, and I had fun, so that’s what counts!

And how did I get my hands on this set?  Well, I had a visitor — an online friend all the way from Florida, and she brought a few fun sets with her for us to play with — how SWEET!!!  So WHO was here — a current SCS Dirty Girl, DebDeb, Deb Felts!  We had so much fun!  It was just a short visit one afternoon earlier this week, with a couple others,  No time to dig in and stamp, but we did Copic color for a bit and that was fun!   So glad you came, Deb!!!  Thanks!!!

Image is Copic colored, cut and matted with Classic Rectangle Nesties.  And doesn’t she look like she’s just looking at you saying “What’s New?” — LOL!!!  That sentiment is included in the Tiny Words Set by JustRite.  Again, just because the stamp is round and used on a round stamper, doesn’t mean you are tied to a round sentiment – oval suited me better today — so oval it was!  Cut with my Petite Oval Nesties.  And the 1.5″ wide Gingham Ribbon is simply knotted.  I wanted to use wide ribbon, but a bow would have overpowered this card, so a simple knot did the trick!

The following items used to make this card are available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store:

Tiny Words Set used on the 1 3/16 Round Stamper, both by JustRite

Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink for sentiment

1.5″ Gingham Ribbon by May Arts

Petite Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders

Scor-It

Thanks so much for stopping in — hope you get time to try to leave your comfort zone, too!  Would love to see where you head!  And I do have another post popping up in the morning where I’m allowed to do my normal thing — so normal it will be, early tomorrow morning!  Hope you can stop back in and see what I have to share then!  Thanks everyone!  See you soon!

I finally shared my card on my blog today – I TRIED to do vintage but because of the coloring & lack of distressing, I’m afraid I’m not completely satisfied with it! But I do like how clean & simple the card turned out! I’m determined to do vintage better!
