JustRite Garden Tour 2 Blog Hop

Welcome to JustRite’s Garden Tour 2 Blog Hop— but I used a sewing set!!!

And I couldn’t be any more tickled with a new set than I am with Stitched with Love by JustRite Stampers  – I LOVE this set and have *sew* many ideas swarming in my head.  I just can’t wait to find time to get them all made up.  But for today, here’s my first project made with Stitched with Love:

I altered a round purchased box to create a sewing box reminiscent of vintage sewing boxes, and made a card to coordinate in the event I give this as a gift.  Stitched with Love has 6 Centers and 6 Borders all with a sewing theme.  They fit the 2 3/8″ Round Wood Stamper.  I only used one of the Center/Border combinations today but have ideas galore for the rest.  This set is certain to get a lot of use in my stamp room!!!  Here’s a look at the box before I altered it:

Certainly a nice box that could serve many purposes as is – but, I couldn’t leave well enough alone — you all know how that goes!  I picked it up on sale a year or two ago from Michaels.  Here’s how the box top looks after alterations were complete:

What I did was really quite simple, but totally transformed the box to a very feminine, vintage piece.  I stamped the image from Stitched with Love using Memento Rich Cocoa Ink on cream colored cardstock, coloring my spool with Copics.  For layering I used SU Blush Blossom and Prism Birchtone Medium

My double bow on top was made with the Bow Easy of Champagne Silk Ribbon.  The flowers with pearls are by Offray from Michaels.  And here’s a side view of the box top to show you that detail:

The Crochet Lace was adhered with red sticky tape.  I first ran a gathering stitch through the top of the lace on the sewing machine and just pulled up the gathers to fit as I glued it around the rim.  I then ran another layer of red sticky tape above the lace and ran my Velvet Zig Zag ribbon in pink around the rim as well.  I just crossed the tails and covered with another Offray flower.  All my bows and flowers are glued on using Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue from Wal-Mart.  I use just a tad bit of a glue dot to hold my tail ends in shape.  Now here’s the card:

It’s a standard A-2 size and I made it to coordinate with the sewing box.  The DP used on the card is an amazingly close match to the purchased box, and that was purely a stroke of luck!  The DP is by Crafty Secrets, I think from their Classic Heartwarming Vintage Pad.  My Flourish Accent die cut on top is by Spellbinders, as are the Petite Circle Nestabilities I used to cut and emboss the focal images.

Just a closer peek at the focal image on the card. Kaiser Pearls were used on the Flourish Accent.  Such a fun project to do!!!

This new set was my inspiration for this project.  Stitched with Love by JustRite will be available to order on February 5.  The full set will be revealed on Wednesday (tomorrow) on the JustRite Blog, so be sure to check in then!  It requires the 2 3/8″ Wood Stamper and all the centers and borders are interchangeable, giving you a ton of options with this fun sewing set!  I’ll be using it a lot, so stay tuned!!!
