Oh, Baby! – Let’s make something with baby in mind this week — a shower card, a new baby Congrats!, an altered item, baby’s room decor, a 1st BD card — ANYTHING goes — as long as it’s for BABY!!!!!  And if you have no special baby needing a little of your hand crafted love right now, make up a generic baby card to add to your stash!!  Can’t WAIT to see all your sweet creations!!!

And I made an easel style photo frame for today:

Isn’t he sweet!  This is the 6 month photo of our youngest great-nephew, Eli.  When I got this photo in the mail not long ago, it was very clear that he was “Just Cute as a Button”, so I knew what I had to do!!!  And with easel style cards being all the rage of late over at SCS, I took that idea and turned it into a photo frame, of sorts.  This easel does NOT fold.  It is permanent, as seen. Instructions will follow.  If you want to make some of the easel cards that are now popular, check out this tuturial at SCS by Beate.  Here’s the how-to for my easel photo frame.

Card Base:  Cut paper 8.5 x 5.5″.  Score at 3″ and 5.75″.  The 3″ flap is the front. Fold as shown.  Apply any DP you may desire.

Bracket:  Cut paper 2″ x 4″.  Score in half the long way.  Adhere first to underside of frame front, position properly (I left a 1″ shelf for my buttons), then adhere to frame bottom, as shown.

Your easel frame is now created — it’s very sturdy and ready to decorate!

I matted my photo and adhered to frame front.  My “Cute as a Button” is from the new JustRite set Stitched with Love – and I LOVE that set.  I used it on my last post to create a vinatge sewing box and card, and now today to create this much more contemporary photo frame.  LOVE the versatility of this set!  (Mine are arriving next week — feel free to email me to save you one – [email protected]).  My stamped image was cut and matted using my Petite Circle Nesties and my buttons are a hodge podge mix of color and size, each threaded with plain white thread and glued on (Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue).  The DP’s are both  SU Prints DP in Bashful Blue and Close to Cocoa.

This is a visual of the new set, Stitched with Love, that I used for this baby easel frame and my vintage sewing box.  It has 6 fun sewing themed centers and borders and requires the 2 3/8″ Round Stamper.  The set sells for $14.95 and if you need the 2 3/8″ Stamper, it sells for $10.95.   You’ll be seeing a lot of samples from me with this set — it’s surely WAY at the top of my list as being an all-time FAV!!!!

I always get a lot of JustRite questions, and right at the top of the list is the issue of ink collecting on the stamp edge and leaving unsightly ink marks on your paper.  This issue is easily resolved by simply cutting off the excess rubber that wants to collect the ink.  As a matter of course, I cut all my Just Rite centers as shown above.   Just wanted to again share this as a reminder!
