Quick Baby Gift & New Baby Kit!

I have two baby-themed items to show you today.  First is a quick gift I made for a new baby by just gussying up a store bought set of Johnson’s bath/body products for baby that I picked up at Wal-Mart.  Take a look at what I bought:

Bedtime bath/body products in a cute, fuzzy container, complete with the children’s classic, Goodnight Moon.  I just needed a little something to drop off for a family who just had their 2nd girl, and this caught my eye, especially knowing I could dress it up in true little girl fashion!  As I was contemplating my purchase, I instantly knew that I would dress it up with yellow gingham, so I felt I wanted a little yellow in the gift basket, that’s why I purchased the single container — moreseo because it was yellow than for what it was — LOL!!!  I was able to squeeze it in the middle and it worked perfectly!!!  Here’s the finished baby gift basket after I dressed it all up:

Not too much work at all, but a big improvement over the original, and TOTALLY FUN to do!!!  I made my hang tag by cutting a sheet of SU Yellow (can’t think of the proper name at the moment, but it’ll come…) 3″ x 7.5″, scored 2.5″ from the top, punched a hole with a 1.5″ punch and used a SU Corner Rounder to round the top corners.

Here’s a closer view.  The DP used is Lilac Avenue by Kaiser.  The smaller tag with the leafy stem was a punchout in the Lilac Avenue Pad.  Each pad has several pages of tags and borders you can punch out — makes this quick and fun!  My Cutie Pie sentiment was from Tiny Words by JustRite, used on the 1 3/16″ Stamper.  I’ve been having fun playing with this small size of late — more on this issue at the end of the post.  The sentiment was cut and embossed using my Petite Circle Nesties (4 pack) by Spellbinders.  A little ribbon to top it off and we’re done!  5/8″ Dotted Sheer is used on top and 1″ Ric Rac is used on the bottom.

Just wanted to explain what I did with the ribbon.  I took a length of 1.5″ Gingham Ribbon, ran a line of tape down the center with my Glue Glider, then just layed the 1″ Ric Rac on top of it, pressing down as I went.  I liked the result, especially for baby!  It was too bulky to make a nice bow, so I just knotted it and then made a bow with the plain gingham, using the BIGGER BOW EASY.  This is a double bow (meaning I wrapped the ribbon around twice), in the 5″ size on the BIGGER BOW EASY.  To get it to stay on I used a T-pin to stick it into the fuzzy base.

The ribbon wraps all the way around the basket.  Looks so pretty!!!  I see my fuzzy liner is twisted on top — I straightened it out.  WHY do I never see these things until AFTER the picture is taken????

And that does it for this quick little baby gift!  I had fun making it — hope the new MOM enjoys it, too!!!

I have most items to make this gift set available in The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  What I wanted to point out is the Tiny Words set is a favorite of mine.  I use it a ton when I make the cards with the Journal Notes or Cotton Scraps.  Its small size seems to fit those images well.  Take a look at them:

Anyway, what I’m getting at is that I have the 1 3/16″ Damask Monogram set on sale for the month of April for 20% off.  It was $22.50 and and it is now $18.00.  If you are at all inclined to try these fun, small sets, the Monogram Set on sale comes with all you need to make monograms, including the stamper, so then you’d be all set to add on the Tiny Words set!  Just a thought! (Please note:  Many of my JR stamps are still at the pre-price increase prices.  When JR raised their prices on 2/15, I did not.  As long as I have stock, I will stick with the old prices.  But as I have to re-stock supply, my prices will then increase as well).

Editing — OOPS, Sorry:  People are getting confused.  I do have TWO Damask Monogram Sets available and both are on sale.  The one I referred above is the smaller set in the 1 3/16″ size.  Here’s a picture of it:

1 3/16″ Damask Monogram Kit ($22.50)Sale Priced $18.00 (April –  while supplies last)

It contains the 1 3/16″ Wood Stamper, 3 Damask Borders and 1 set of 60 pt. Font in Times New Roman.  It comes in the clear clam shell packaging.  The stamper included will accept all 1 3/16″ Centers and Borders, such as I used today on the baby ensemble.

Then I have the original Damask Monogram Kit in 1 5/8″ Size and this one comes in the original box packaging.  Here it is:

1 5/8″ Damask Monogram Kit ($19.95)Sale Priced $15.00

This is the original Damask Monogram Kit and it contains the same elements as the smaller set, only in the 1 5/8″ size.  The stamper with this Kit accepts all 1 5/8″ stamps and borders.  I just checked the JustRite site and I’m not finding this kit any more.  I’m presuming it is sold out/retired????  I have a dozen or so left.  These Damask Monogram Kits have been my go-to sets for Monograms for years and I love them as much today as I did from Day 1.

Hope this helps to clarify it!
