The Shabby Tea Room Challenge

There’s a relatively new challenge blog on the block called The Shabby Tea Room and they’ve asked me to be their guest this week — how fun!!!  I was very intrigued with the name of their blog from the minute I heard it as it reminded me of a tea room we have in our area.  We stamping friends go there on occasion to enjoy high tea complete with all the pretties — lace tablecloths, cloth napkins, real silver and just the loveliest of decor. HHHmmmm, maybe I feel another high tea coming on soon!

This week’s challenge is called “Embrace the White”, and the challenge is to use ONLY white or ivory with ONE additional color — SO right up my alley — LOVED this challenge.  An inspiration photo was provided which was very, very cool!!!  Check it all out here at The Shabby Tea Room  and get ready to play and have some fun!  And here’s my card:

Here’s what I drew from the inspiration photo, resulting in my card above.

Color:  Pure white (furniture), Kiwi green (pears)

Shape:  Circles (doilies), Graceful curved lines (couch)

Texture:  Lace (doilies and pillow)

Image:  Hydrangea (flower in vase)

Overall feel:  Crisp, clean, white, modern vintage

A closer look at the detail.  I colored (very sparingly) my hydrangea from Plant a Little Love with Copics and highlighted the centers with Snow Pearls.  A paper doily from Wal-Mart is placed under my focal image and buttons from my stash are prettied up with 1/8″ White Silk Ribbon.  On the left I used my 1.25″ White Crochet Lace and topped it off with a 1.25″ White Silk Bow made on the Bow Easy.  My favorite corner accent from Vintage Dies accents the corner.  The colored cardstock is Prism Frosted Kiwi.  I used an SU corner rounder.  The card is 5.25″ square.  That’s about it — hope you like it!  It was FUN to make!!!

This card also fits this week’s JustRite Challenge 012, Anything Goes!  Check it out.

Both the Shabby Tea Room Challenge and the JustRite Challenge offer prizes!
