A Card of Comfort & Lace on Sale

Much to cover again – a card of comfort for a serious illness done in a style to fit my ongoing SIMPLICITY series of cards, a sale on ALL Lace sold by the spool, and an update on my Dad.  Let’s start with my card:

Today I needed a card for a man facing a terminal situation.  A hard card to make, for sure.  I thought this sentiment from the clear set by Wordsworth called Comfort would be just perfect.  This is a set I know I’ll get a lot of use from, both for cards of comfort and for sympathy cards.  This card is simply made, all straight cuts on my paper cutter, using just one Spellbinders die for the corner — Flourish Accent.  The papers are from A Proper Gentlemen, and the Champagne Twill is also included in the A Proper Gentlmen Kit.  The papers in this pad are great for guy cards.  I used my favorite ink for crisp, clear sentiments – VersaFine Onyx Black.  All items used are available in The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, and are linked above.  The cardstock is SU Black and Very Vanilla. Here’s a visual of the set:

And now for an update on my Dad — I haven’t said much lately as things are status quo, just waiting.  There was a little setback last week due to mis-communication between doctors.  He LOVES going to PT.  He was very much into exercising at a gym prior to this onset of problems and being in bed for over a month now is NOT his cup of tea!  Last Monday the GP released him to go back to PT.  Well, when he saw the surgeon who did the amputation on Thursday, that did NOT go over well, all PT was stopped and he is totally back in bed with the foot elevated (bed exercises are permitted).  So we wait for this Thursday when he has another appointment to see how the foot is coming along.  PLUS, another big unknown, is the fate of the other foot.  They keep saying to wait.  So, we wait —

All things considered, his spirits are improving daily.  There is much more strength in his voice and he is awake for longer and longer periods each day.  And he has finally developed an interest in TV, so that’s helped his days go by much faster.  Until this week he had no interest.  We are grateful, hopeful and prayerful that he’ll get home with as much feet as possible and be able to walk again.  Your continued prayers are MUCH appreciated!

And speaking of appreciation, I can’t thank you enough for the cards you have sent him — he seems absolutely joyful when they arrive. He calls me right away to tell me what has come!  It is a good reminder to me to see the positive benefits of such a simple gesture, and I hope to be more diligent in actually getting cards mailed out myself!  If anyone cares to mail him a card, here’s his name and address again:

Roy Peltoniemi, PO Box 317, Dollar Bay, MI  49922.

And that wraps it up for this morning!  Thank you to all who have stopped in to check on what I’ve got going on — I really appreciate your visits, more than you know!  Have a great week — we have a beautiful day already at about 77 degrees so far — and that’s a perfect temp for me!  See you soon!

Prayers continuing for your dad —- and you. As for the card, I do not envy having to make that one! But I love CAS and your card fits that bill nicely. Beautiful!

A stunning creation, Sharon … love that stamp!

Sounds like things are going as well as can be expected with your Dad … sounds like he’s getting a l’il tired of bed rest! A good sign!

Keeping both of you in my thoughts and prayers!

  3. Beautiful card, Sharon. I do so love that sentiment. BIG hugs to your dad. I remember back (ages ago) when my grandfather was quite ill. They had to amputate his leg. He had been a carpenter all his life and was forever on his feet. It took an act of congress to get him to stay still after that! Will keep the prayers flowing! HUGS!

  4. Marisa says:

Great card, Sharon and I love that Wordsworth set. Have a few of their wood stamps and just love the script they use.

Thanks for the update on your dad. Glad he is gaining more strength and I can totally empathize with him re: not being able to exercise – it would drive me nuts! PT better watch out once he is able to get there as he will be full or energy and drive and read to go LOL! Blessings to him and to you and your family (((hugs)))

Beautiful card, Sharon. Still in prayer for your Dad and now your friend as well. As a dear friend once said, “They don’t call it the “practice” of medicine for nothing”. Hope those docs come to a meeting of the minds.

  8. Sharon B says:

Sharon – I’m just back from vacation and wanted to let you know that I am happy to hear of your father’s improvements! Now that I have his full name I would like your permission to add his name to the prayer roll at the Los Angeles Temple. He has been in my prayers as “Sharon Johnson’s Dad” since I first heard of his troubles.
Your card is great! I am going to order the set – it’s just perfect!
I’m also going to check my stash of lace and see if there is something missing! 🙂

  9. Leigh says:

TFS your dad’s progress. Knowing his spirits are still up is such a plus towards his continueing improvement. How fun that he is enjoying his cards from his DD’s friends 🙂
I love your perfect guy DP and how the swirl die and twill are the perfect embellishments for your beautiful main image sentiment. TFS

  14. Sherry in MI says:

Beautiful card, Sharon. It has a very soothing “feeling” to it. Hope it brings comfort
to the recipient. Glad to hear of your Dad’s continued improvement in health and in
spirit. Convalescence does take its toll on everyone. Glad to hear that your temps
are in the upper 70s. We, here in SE MI are “enjoying” upper 50s and a drizzle-y
little rain for half the day today. However, tomorrow promises sun and mid-70s with
a couple of 80s thrown in for good measure in a few days. Woo hoo! As always,
keeping you all in my prayers and sending good thoughts your way. Sherry
