Stamp Simply #142 – Sweet Stuff!

Sweet Stuff! – Today’s challenge comes to us from Jenny Gropp.  Jenny wants us to create a card or a project featuring something SWEET…. a cake, cupcake or candy!  It can be a stamp image, paper or an embellishment — whatever you have in your stash that fits the theme.  Can’t wait to see all your SWEET creations!  Thanks so much Jenny!!!

And when you play please be sure to link up to Mr. Linky below!

Anyone is welcome and invited to play!  SCS Keyword is ssnotime142 for those who upload at SCS.  There is no time limit. You can play this challenge  anytime at all.  The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!

This marks our first challenge for June, and a new month means saying goodbye to our previous month’s Guest Designer, Teresa Kline, Enjoy the VA Sunshine.  Teresa was a GREAT sport and served as a Guest Designer with us for 2 months.  We all LOVED her creations, and I know you did, too!  Thank you SO MUCH, Teresa!  Hope you can still play along with us sometime!

And I know many of you will be equally as thrilled with our June Guest Designer, Julia Aston, Create with Me.  Many of you know her well from both SCS and Blogland.  Her creations are always full of inspiration and a total delight to the eye!  Thank you so much, Julia, for agreeing to play with us this month!  So happy to have you!

And today I have a very simple wedding card to fit today’s theme:

142-weddingcake-371-480.jpg

I held completely true to today’s challenge — my wedding cake is SWEET and my card is STAMPED SIMPLY!  This is another card I’m adding to my SIMPLICITY series of cards.  I am continually reminded by emails that many of my viewers are either beginning stampers or seasoned stampers with NO time who enjoy super simple creations.  I will be adding regularly to my SIMPLICITY series of cards.  To view them all, just go to the left sidebar and under Categories scroll down until you find SIMPLICITY — then click!

This is a standard A2 sized card with a top fold, using SU Bashful Blue and White cardstock.

I used a Rubber Soul set I have in stock called Wedding.  It can be seen on this page along with all the other sets I have by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth. This set is specially priced at $6.95 and it’s GREAT for coming showers, weddings, etc.  I colored my cake with Copics, dressed the flowers up with Snow Kaiser Pearls and added a bit of glitter.  I used my Rectangle Nesties (4 pack) by Spellbinders to cut my image and scalloped border.  My image used Memento Tuxedo Black as I wanted to Copic Color it.  My sentiment used VersaFine Onyx Black, my preferred ink for crisp, clean sentiments.

My favorite part on this card is, of course, the bow!  I did NOT use the Bow Easy for this bow.  I used the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon in White and here’s what I did:

1)   Wrap about a 6″ piece of ribbon around the blue panel, securing with tape on the underside, then attach the blue panel to card front.

2)  Cut another about 6 or 8″ piece of ribbon and run it UNDER the strip you just placed on the card — this will be used to tie on the bow we will create.

3) To create the bow, just pulling ribbon off the spool wrap it around your fingers 3, 4 or 5 times — just depends how many loops you want on your bow.  Then grab it in the middle so it looks like a bow, place it on the ribbon you ran UNDER in the step above, and tie it onto your card, fanning out your loops once tied — SUPER EASY and a fun look.

4)  Personally, I love long ribbon tails and thought they worked well on this otherwise simple wedding card, so I left them long and drapey.

I sell this ribbon by the spool only.  It is lightweight, fun and easy to work with and it comes in the 19 colors shown here.  A spool of the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon is $12.95 for 50 yards, so that comes to just less than $ .26 per yard.  It allows you to be generous with your bows and tails at that price!

If you care to order anything from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, just email me at [email protected].

Remeber to use Mr. Linky if you are able to play along!

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I truly do appreciate all your visits and I hope you have a GREAT summer weekend ahead!  I do have some plans for some fun in the sun, and I’ll share that on my next post!  See you real soon!

  1. LOVE LOVE! I love the bashful blue, that GORGEOUS cake and still trying to figure out that bow you described, but it is LOVELY!!

  2. ~Mary says:

Sharon, you have the best knack for making simple cards look elegant and pleasing. Not everyone can pull that off! I love the big bow. (I am so in love with this wrinkled ribbon. I have 3 rolls from you so far. It takes Copic Markers quite well if you need a small bit or an odd color – which is awesome!) Wish I could make a simple card look so good – I come here often for inspiration as well as to shop. Your blog and your store have both become my absolute online favorites.

  3. Deb Neerman says:

Very pretty card. I have been missing your blog and several others-for some reason not getting them in my inbox -may be something to do with cleaning out cookies and folders the other evening.

Enjoyed checking out the grad post. Was happy to see your dad was able to attend and he looked to be enjoying himself. You sure do look like your mother; same thing I was always told. tfs

  16. My Mr. Linky is #19 you can eliminate it. I don’t think my card qualifies for “Sweet Stuff” after I read the blog. Sorry, I don’t know how to delete these. Thanks so much.
