Stamp Simply #143 – Give it a Chance!
Give it a Chance! – Today we are going to dig into our drawers, boxes or bags of those rejected or unfinished pieces — I KNOW we all have those containers. Gosh, I have WAY too many of them. Pull out a piece you started at some other time and for whatever reason you just never finished it and it ended up in that collection of *maybe I’ll use this someday* items. Be sure to tell us what piece you have rescued and given a 2nd chance to! Should be fun!!!
Anyone is welcome and invited to play! SCS Keyword is ssnotime143 for those who upload at SCS. There is no time limit. You can play this challenge anytime at all. The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!

And today I have a project to show you that I’ve wanted to do for a LONG time, and just never got to it. And it does need a bit of explaining, so please bear with me – LOL. Here we go:
What you see above is a project I started a good 10-11 years ago, at least! I was a fairly new stamper and attended an SU Workshop. Does anyone remember those workshops where you used an SU Scrappin’ Kit and the papers were cut in such a way to get you something like 50 or 60 cards? Do they still do those workshops? I got the bases made for maybe 40 – 50 cards and we ran out of time. We were supposed to finish them at home. WEEELLLLL — we all know how that goes. But I did try —
Now we fast forward about 5 years to maybe 2004 or something like that. I have NEVER claimed to be a fast worker – LOL!!! My neighbor, Sue, gave me some really pretty stickers. I loved them and thought the colors were right for that Scrappin’ Kit project once started. So I pulled it out and they WERE perfect. So, on these 6 cards, I applied some stickers. I really have no clue who made those 3-D stickers, but looking at them now I’d have to guess maybe K & Company. The flat stickers were in the original Scrappin’ Kit and the elevated ones were the ones I added.
I’m uploading these pics and writing as I go — I’m hoping to get all 6 cards finished this evening (because I have to post in just a couple hours!). I foresee a few difficulties — I worked differently then than I do now. Now I like to tuck my ribbon behind layers, but I can’t on these cards as they are already all adhered together. Plus I like to elevate a lot of layers — too late for that, too! So, I’ll go down to my stamp room now and do my best with what I have going for me here —
OK, done — only got 4 cards finished, but I’m happy with them, especially considering it took me over 10 years to get them finished — LOL!!! All product used to complete these cards is available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Links will be at the end of the post.
All sentiments used on these cards are in a Wordsworth clear set called Everyday Greetings. It was cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Tags. I use pink Kaiser Rhinestones and a pink 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon. A few little additions sure make a difference!
Same stamp set, tag dies and rhinestones. This ribbon was White 100% Silk Ribbon that I tea dyed and then ironed smooth. Bows are all made on the Bow Easy. All ink used is my favorite for crisp, clean, dark sentiments — VersaFine Onyx Black.
This is the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon again with a button from my stash. Used a small circle punch for the sentiment.
Again, all the same items. This ribbon was Ivory 100% Silk that I tea dyed, but it was not ironed after I dyed it, so it’s a bit more vintage looking.

How fun to see the before, during and after stages of your beautiful cards. Isn’t it amazing how far our stamping has come with lots of help from gorgeous embellishments. TFS

Oh my gosh, Sharon, I can’t believe you’ve kept the cards that long . . . LOL! Well, I just started stamping five years ago so I don’t have anything that old . . . I’m checking my reject pile and will come up with something . . . LOL . . . I’ve got a lot to choose from! You did an awesome job with updating and completing the designs!

What a nice creative and inspiring project to post – at least we aren’t the only ones who have and who have saved incomplete projects!
Nice results, and a really good way to show all of us that something can be done with the things we thought we could create many years ago (or even yesterday, last week or last month) and never finished.
Got to admit it is saving money…. especially now when things are still tough for many of us!!!

I would say it certainly was worth the wait—-even if it was a 10 yr hiatus:) These are very cute and anyone would be thrilled to receive one of them in the mail or in a gift bag.

Your cards are fabulous and what a great challenge.
Oh Sharon you do have a way of opening the pandora boxes of our lives. 🙂 I cannot believe that now everyone will know about hoarding. I have this pile of started projects that I know I will get to someday.
BUT you did a beautiful job of turning your long neglected ‘stuff’ into a work of art!
Those card supplies will be your most sought after and there in lies the next challenge.

I have been looking for the instructions for 10 cards from the same piece of paper. I saw it and then I lost the url. But this is awesome. And yes, I go to a SU workshop once a month. It is so much fun. Your cards are a real inspiration. I check it DAILY. –well almost daily.
