Shabby Bloomers for Mother Teresa

With all due respect to Mother Teresa, I just love to have some fun with titles!  Today I combined two challenges — the sketch is from CPS174 and I also found time to play in The Shabby Tea Room again.  Their challenge this week was to incorporate embossing into your project.  I dry embossed my base sheet of designer paper.  Take a look:

The card is a standard 4.25″ x 5.5″ with the decorative top layer extending over the edge, requiring use of a 5.5″ square envelope OR one of the invitation sized envelopes from Wal-Mart.  I think this card would be pretty for a wedding, engagement or birthday.  This beautiful quote by Mother Teresa is in the set Famous Women’s Collection by Wordsworth.  I have plenty available at $11.95It can be seen on this post with all other sets I have available by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth.  Ink used is VersaFine Onyx Black – great for crisp, dark sentiments.

Designer paper used is from Webster’s Pages 6×6 Combo Pack, Lullaby Lane and Life’s Portrait - $5.95.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the bottom layer of DP.

Spellbinders Labels 4 Nesties were used to cut the focal image sentiment.    My shabby roses are cut from a strip of Webster’s Pages Bloomers Fabric Flowers — I am TOTALLY, and I mean TOTALLY addicted to these roses — they are SO fun!!!  They come 5 colors on a card and can be seen here$11.95.  I used a Cuttlebug Vintage Die for the corner detail and Kaiser Pearls in Blush and Lush for accent.  My bows are made with 100% Silk (Champagne) using 1.25″ and 1/4″ widths.  Bows were made on the Bow Easy.  Bows and roses were adhered with Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky glue I pick up at Wal-Mart.

To finish off the inside and give it some shabby interest, I merely took some leftover strips of paper and pieced them together like a quilt.  Nothing fancy, but it felt good to use up little pieces and strips, and I like the look!  The paper is plenty light enough in color that one can still write their message on the inside.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store carries all items used to make this card, all linked above.  If you are interested in anything, just email me at [email protected] to order, including your state/zip OR country.
