Stamp Simply #160 – Back to Nature

Back to Nature –  Autumn is truly beautiful here in Upper Michigan – the changing of leaves from green to a rainbow of rich yellows, oranges and reds, the crunching of the fallen leaves underfoot, the sight and sounds of birds migrating south and the smell of applesauce cooking!   I love this time of year!  Today let us be inspired by Mother Nature in our creations – let’s create something with a natural, earthy feel reflective of ANY season YOU enjoy – it’s the natural/earthy element we are going for here, not necessarily autumn.

Anyone is welcome and invited to play!  SCS Keyword is ssnotime160 for those who upload at SCS.  There is no time limit. You can play this challenge anytime at all.  The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!

And if YOU play along, be sure to link to Mr. Linky below so we can easily find you.  Please link the direct post, not your blog, for ease in finding the proper creation!

And here’s my natural and earthy card for today:

Oh, I had fun doing this!!!  I used the lovely natural looking paper from Conservatory by 7 Gypsies — I used the 8×8 pad on this project.  My card is 6 x 4.5″, which is just about A6 sized.  This is just one of those fun cards where I fiddled around with pretty things!

I started by making my tag first.  I used a purchased manila shipping tag, covering it with DP.  My twig is a real twig I picked off our Mountain Ash tree.  I sewed it onto the tag with Burlap String.  I placed it where I wanted it, then punched holes with my Mat Pack and Piercer which allowed me to easily sew through those holes with my Burlap String on a large-eyed needle. I then made my Burlap String tassel  for the top and I made my bow on the Bow Easy using tea-dyed Ivory 1/2″ Wrinkled RibbonHere’s a little how-to and comparisons on tea-dying various ribbons I did a few months back.  I glued the bow to my twig.  When the tag was done, I adhered it to my card with Dimensionals.

Amber Hight has been having fun with the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon and she has prepared a Utube Video showing her method of tying a bow with it, and I think you might find it interesting — I did!  Click here to see Amber’s video.  Thanks, Amber!  LOVE your bows!!!

My sentiment is from Nature’s Nested Sentiments by JustRite — perfect here!  It’s stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and just cut on the paper cutter.  Nothing fancy.  The little bird is hand cut from one of the sheets in the Conservatory Pad.

And here’s a little peek at the inside — just decorated a little with more paper from the Conservatory Pad.

And I know what many of you are thinking – YES, I do read your emails and comments — LOL!!  HOW will you mail that card???  Well, I’ll put it in one of my favorite Clear Boxes.  Then I can insert the box into a bubble wrap bag OR I can just make an address label for the box and mail it as is!!!  And YES, I FINALLY have my Clear Boxes coming.  They will arrive late in the day on Monday.  I’ll try to get them posted and up for you on Monday night, or Tuesday during my post.  I’ll have plenty available, in 2 sizes — A2 and A6.  So watch for them if you are interested!

  9. Carolyn says:

Your card ‘Back to Nature’ is lovely; however, the “it’s” on the JustRite stamp should be “its”. “It’s” means “it is”.

    Pretty beautiful!

  11. Jerri Kay says:

After reading your comment on Deb’s post, I couldn’t wait to see your card. I love the different takes both of you have on the same paper. Both cards are extraordinarily beautiful! The design paper used is totally stunning on your cards! Your tag with the twig is gorgeous. I had pulled twigs from my trees, but they wouldn’t cooperate so I used artificial ones on my design.
