Gathered Lace Happy Birthday

This morning I took the time to do something I’ve wanted to do since first setting eyes on this particular piece of lace by May Arts.  I envisioned it gathered up the center with a strip of 1/8″ Velvet placed over the gathering stitches — so that was today’s mission — MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!  Here’s my project:

First of all, I have no clue why that Prima Fairytale Rose is looking so red – it is a deeper purple, near the color of the ribbon, at least in the light of my stamp room!

I used my all time FAV Birthday Stamp —Birthday Blessings by Wordsworth — and kept it simple.  That sentiment panel is merely cut at my paper cutter.

The paper was still on my work table from the other day — a gorgeous pad by K & Company, Botanical 12 x 12 Specialty Pad  (lots of pages with sparkles)!!! I used Kaisercraft Rhinestones in Split Pea and Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink.

And I will mention ribbons that go well with that pad are Silk Ribbon in Blue, Ivory, Celery, Lavender, Violet.

Here’s a better look at the lace/velvet detail.  This was very easy to do.  I ran a straight stitch just with needle and thread through the center of the lace and placed Scor-Tape down on the card where I wanted the lace and kind of pulled and gathered as I placed my lace down on the tape.  I then ran 1/8″ Scor-Tape over the gathered center and then placed my 1/8″ Velvet  on top of that.  Works like a charm!

This is the card safely in it’s A6 Clear Box, it’s totally protected until it will be given, and it will be given in the Clear Box.  The card is made to perfectly fit inside this box — it measures 4.75″ x 6.5″.

Here’s the lace I used above — it’s so pretty left as is OR gathered up as I did today.  I have this lace available individually or as part of a Vintage Lace Sampler along with other equally as pretty vintage-inspired laces.  You can see the lace here.

And here’s a peek at all the colors the 1/8″ Velvet is available in.  You can check them out here.  The colors that go well with the pad used today are Turquoise, Teal, Parrot Green, Purple and Ivory.

And once I was playing with the 1/8″ Velvet today, I made up two more of the Stamp Simply Basics Embellishment Kits — Purple and Teal — both featuring the 1/8″ Velvet.  Fun!

All items used and shown above are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.

Thanks much for stopping in — it’s a busy day again.  I have 5# of fresh Lake Superior Whitefish to cook for company tonight, so I’d better get busy in the kitchen again!!!  As they say, a man works from sun to sun, but a woman’s work is NEVER done — HOW TRUE!!!

Have a great week and I plan to be back real soon!!!!
