The 12 Days of a Clean and Simple Christmas – Stamp Simply Style – Day Three

Welcome to Day 3 of The 12 Days of a Clean and Simple Christmas – Stamp Simply Style.  I have a very easy and quick trio of cards today, but first we have the winner from last Saturday’s Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style

The winner was selected from Deb’s Blog and she won a beautiful selection of  Silk Ribbon:

Congrats go out to Michelle B  from Davenport, Florida.  Michelle, please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address to claim your prize package of 36 yards of luxurious silk ribbon!

Thanks to all who played along and please consider joining us each Saturday as we share Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simly Style.

Now on to my trio of cards for today:

This trio of cards uses a pad I’m just really loving this holiday season – Lost & Found Christmas 6×6 by My Mind’s Eye.

All coordinates to this pad in stock can be seen here.  I’d like to point out that the stamp set to coordinate with this paper pad could be used in the same fashion as today’s cards, the image would just be different than what I’m showing.

Here’s a closer view of  just one of the cards and I’ll only show one since they are all the same.  The card is standard A2 size – 5.5 x 4.25″.  On this particular card I thought it was kind of neat how well that strip of patterned paper coordinates with this stamp. The stamp used is a wood mount by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth, called Swirly Christmas Tree

All of the stamps in stock by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth can be seen here.

And for no particular reason, I’ll just tell you — it is this type of card that made me fall in love with the craft of rubber stamping many  years ago.  A simple embossed image — man, I was WOW’d when I learned how to emboss and thought it was just the coolest thing EVER! LOL — I still love the look of a heat embossed image and I do it WAY too seldom — I think you’ll be seeing more heat embossed images here this holiday season!

What a gorgeous little tree!  To heat emboss an image you need a heat gun, Versa Mark and Embossing Powder.  I still get a kick out of watching my stamped image come to life as I heat it up!

One more little tidbit — you also need an Embossing Buddy or some comparable anti-static product.  Well, my Embossing Buddy has been *temporarily misplaced* for weeks in my stamping mess.  I made my own last night and was VERY pleased with the results.  I put about 1/4 cup of cornstarch in a white cotton sock and tied it off  with a heavy rubber band.  WORKED GREAT!  Problem solved!!!

I used Mirror Cardstock in gold to mat my layers.  Another look I LOVE, especially at Christmas.  It gives you a lot of POP for very little effort.  The other cardstock used is SU Very Vanilla.  My little piping strip is also out of the Mirror Cardstock.

Here’s a little tip — to make a rather simple card without a lot of other interest come to life, just pop up the focal image.  Elevating the focal image automatically gives it some importance, making your card seem extra special — I think so anyway.  I like to use the 3D Foam Squares.  I prefer this brand because the backs peel off easier than some other brands I’ve tried.

And there you have it — a really quick trio to make!

I made these last night very late and now in looking at the photos, I can see that I forgot one thing I would normally do — can anyone guess?  LOL!  If I had been totally awake when I made these, I would have put a tiny little Lippy Red Rhinestone on the star at the tree top, and I still will!  Imagine it’s there — LOL!

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Thanks for the detailed description on these cards. I have been dabbling in paper crafting for a while but never really got into stamping much until now. Looking for a way to condition my stamps brought me here. So great that you figured out a way to make an anti-static bag, I’m going to try that too! And I completely agree on the heat embossing, once I found out you could do that I HAD TO have more stamps!

You are really getting me in the Christmas spirit! These cards are beautiful and I just happen to have that stamp!
