Water Bottle Vase

I just felt like doing something different today — something spring-like and refreshing!  My inspiration came from this bottle:

As with most weekends, I had kids home, which I LOVE!  As I was picking up on Monday morning, this bottle was on my counter.  I had never seen such a bottle before, but it immediately captured my attention.  I loved its long, lean, cylindrical shape and the fact that it was glass.  Upon inspection I found it is a water bottle.  WOW!  Certainly the prettiest water bottle I have ever seen!  I am guessing that Brittany left it.  I knew this bottle would make a perfect vase, so I took a few minutes to work on it.

This was a quick project that was just FUN!   Wouldn’t it be a nice little teacher gift for her desk.  Or a gift for children to make for Mom or Grandma.  Or a lovely little gift for a co-worker.

I pulled the yellow flowers from one of my flower buckets so I needed a brightly colored paper to coordinate.  I found that in an old, long retired left-over pad — Ducks in a Row by October Afternoon..  The pad was 8×8 so one piece did wrap around this bottle without piecing it.

I used Scor Tape to adhere everything — the wrapped paper, the ribbon, the cord.  Running a strip of the appropriate width of Scor Tape where you want it, then just placing your ribbons, etc. on top of it makes this very quick and easy to do.

The tag is stamped with Charmed, a cling set by JustRite, and cut with Charm Dies made by Spellbinders for JustRite.  There are several JustRite sets in the Charmed series to fit these dies, including Charming Christmas and Elegant Charms.

The ribbon used is 3/4″ Stripped Twill in Yellow and  Twisted Burlap String in Natural.  This is a nice soft cording that comes in many colors.

The tag is just hanging on the bottle neck like a necklace.

The Trinket Flower by Prima is glued on with Aleene’s glue.  I LOVE these fun cloth flowers with pretty button centers.

If someone wanted to put a real flower in the vase, no problem.  The sleeve around the bottle slips off easily, as does the hanging tag.  You can fill the bottle with water, dry if off well, then put your paper sleeve and tag back on.

And that’ll do it for today’s bottle project!  Fun — try one!
