Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Thank You, Thank You!

Welcome to our Saturday Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style challenge.  Today the design team felt they needed more thank you cards, so we decided to create thank you cards with a twist.  We were each to make 2 cards essentially the same, but one being clean and simple while the other one was more decked out.  It’s been fun to see what the girls came up.

Here’s my project for today, but I must say, if anyone is going to break the rules, its always got to be me — so sorry — I kept to the challenge idea, I just didn’t do thank you cards — but I’m happy with them, and that’s what counts!  Take a look:

The card on the left is, of course, the decked out card.  It is a 5.5″ square card that I’ll keep and present in a 5.5″ Square Clear Box.  The more clean and simple card on the right is a standard A2 at 4.25″ x 5.5″.

I like them both.  The paper is so pretty you can get away with a simple card and still have it look so pretty.

The paper used is Prima’s Pixie Glen, a 6×6 pad.

All coordinates to the Pixie Glen Collection can be seen here.

This card could be used for any number of occasions — a general purpose pick me up card, a Valentine, anniversary or birthday card, or even a sympathy card.  Well, if you guessed it, the sentiment did come from a sympathy set — LOVE the versatility it lends the set.  It is JustRite’s newest sympathy set — With Sympathy — a large clear set from the brand new release that is in stock and shipping.

Ink used is Versa Fine Onyx Black.

And I used JustRite’s brand new dies that coordinate with not only this set but many others in the current release.  The die set, called Nested Oval Medallion Labels, is made by Spellbinders for JustRite.  It, too, is in stock and shipping.

See all the JustRite current releases here.

Please Note: Several more of the JustRite January releases arrived last night and are now listed in the store, ready for immediate shipment.  Refer to link above.

For my decked out card I used several layers of 3D Foam Squares to elevate my sentiment, 1.25″ Silk Ribbon in champagne and Prima Fairytale Roses from the Coral package.

The bow is made with the original Bow Easy.

And here’s the clean and simple version.  I omitted the ribbon and in its place I inserted a narrow strip of paper (that I refer to as a piping strip) to lend some interest and set off the two patterns.  I also only elevated one layer of the sentiment on this simpler version.  Additionally, rather than making a layered/matted front I merely covered the entire front with designer paper, something I rely on often — I not only like the look but it is super quick to do.

The cardstock colors used are SU Very Vanilla and Blush Blossom.

And here’s my decked out version again, in its 5.5″ Square Clear Box, ready to be given.  I really like the 5.5″ size box as it’s so easy to make a card to fit perfectly using a standard 8.5 x 11″ sheet of cardstock.

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

  79. Hi Sharon~

I just loved this challenge! How fun…and how educational! I love both cards, but the way you put the ribbon (I have no idea how you do that particular style…is it tied? glued? I would love to learn how you do that! PLEASE? With sugar on top?) The flowers are beautiful on each side of the ribbon. I really like the shape of the Sentiment…and it is beautiful. I can see it being used for so many reasons. I love the embellished version…but the CAS card is beautiful on it’s own, also. You gave a great example…all of you did, actually.

I looked at the challenge backwards. How I can take my mostly CAS cards, into fabulous cards by adding a couple of items.

And, thank you so much for such an amazing opportunity to win one of my favorite colors of ribbon. This is really a fabulous selection!

OMG! I absolutely LOVE both of your cards! Love EVERYTHING about them – the papers, the sentiment, the ribbon, and those gorgeous flowers – even the way you added the narrow strip of paper between the two papers your the CAS card. I find that I come back over and over again for inspiration. THANK YOU soooo very much for sharing your creativity with us!

  81. […] of sentiments works well for general purpose thinking of you cards and even Valentine cards.  Here are two cards I made from With Sympathy with Valentine’s Day in […]

  82. […] My sentiment is from With Sympathy by JustRite.  I make a lot of sympathy cards and With Sympathy is a great set for those; however, I have found it has sentiments very useful for other occasions as well, such as today’s card.  I have also made Valentine Cards using sentiments from With Sympathy (kind of a comical thought when you think about it — LOL — but it works for me).  Here’s those Valentine cards if you care to take a look.
