Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Masculine Creations

Welcome to another Saturday of Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  This week the design team girls are creating some masculine projects.  It was fun to switch gears and do something with the guys in mind!  Here’s what I made:

I used a combination of two stamp sets from two different companies and I think they work together SO beautifully.  I can see this combination of stamp sets surfacing again and again as I create cards with guys in mind.

The stamp sets used are:

Vintage Map Collage Background by JustRite

Dad by Our Daily Bread Designs

The designer paper used is Hunt and Gather by Kaisercraft

The cardstock used is by SU:  Very Vanilla, Black, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard

Ink Used:  Versa Fine Onyx Black, Versa Mark

The bow is made of 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon in Black.  To make this bow I just folded the ribbon over on top of itself many times — if you can imagine ribbon candy — like that.  Then I cinched it in the middle with a piece of Black Burlap String, first hanging my Vintage Trinkets Lock and Key by Prima on the string before tying.

To make the T letter tile I stamped that portion of the Vintage Map Collage Background stamp with Versa Mark, embossed with Super Fine Embossing Powder in Black, cut it with a Square Nestie and then matted with another Square Nestie and  finally with a Postage Stamp layer.  I do have heat guns available.

3D Foam Squares were used for mounting.

Fancy Tags Three was used as the backdrop for the sentiment, which is from Dad by Our Daily Bread Designs.  A SU Ticket Corner Punch was used to clip the edges of the sentiment panel.

Kaisercraft Rhinestones in Black were used on the compass face.

The inside is stamped with two more sentiments from Dad.  I am so delighted with this little set for guy cards!

I feel like a broken record at times, but I do realize that each week brings different readers so I just want to add that this card is a favorite size of mine — 6.5″ x 4.75″.  I make cards this size so they will fit perfectly into an A6 Clear Box.  I love these boxes both to protect the cards until they are given and the Clear Boxes make a beautiful presentation as well.  AND, you can also mail them!  Just insert a sheet with both the address and the return address, seal the edges with the clear dots provided, and apply postage to the outside.

The card is shown above in its A6 Clear Box, ready to be given.

Items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.

Ribbon Suggestions for Masculine Projects

And once we are showcasing masculine projects today, I thought it would be a good time to give you a list of some of the ribbon and strings I especially like to use on masculine creations.  I know sometimes crafters get stumped when it comes to creating for the guys, so I hope this helps you to embellish those masculine creations:

Burlap Cording, Burlap String, Bakers Twine, Twisted Burlap String

Suede Leaves, Double Faced Faux Suede, Ruffled Faux Suede, Suede String

Grosgrain Stripes

Organic Cotton Stripes

Striped Twill, Solid Twill

1/8″, 3/8″ and 3/4″ Velvet

Webbed

1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon

And I will add that just about any ribbon, unless it’s super girly, can be used on masculine projects as long as the proper colors are chosen.

All above ribbon available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.

Please check out the Masculine Category in the store for more items well suited for the guys.

  34. MaryJo@Wichita says:

Love the color combination! Thanks for sharing you talent and for the opportunity to win the JR set and, as always, the gorgeous ribbon.

  35. Good ribbon choices for a guy! I love using twine and twill. But I never make bows with it. I do tie or knot it and use it flat sometimes making tabs or I’ll thread a tag with it. Never anything shiny and no prints except stripes or chevrons. I have some corduroy ribbon that adds lots of texture. And I often put hardware like brads or eyelets through it or thread it through hardware like a ribbon buckle or those things that look like they go on the back of a photo to hang it with wire. I love the background you used!

  36. Carla Suto says:

Wow! What a fantastic masculine card, Sharon! I love the colors and all the special details!

  39. Juanita in Ohio says:

Sharon, this is an awesome card! I LOVE it because the ribbon does not take anything away from the masculienity of the card, that is quite an accomplichment! The candy is great too. TFS.

  40. Kelly Wentling says:

This has got to stop! Everyday when I log on to your website (to be honest…it’s more like 3 or 4 times each day) I look at all the gorgeous things you make with your scrapping goodies. Then I spend the remainder of the day wiping the drool off my computer. LOL
All of you are so talented. If I had just one grain of your talent, I’d consider myself most fortunate.
