JustRite Challenge Sponsored by Stamp Simply – Pretty Papers
Today The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is sponsoring the Friday Challenge on the JustRite Blog and it’s a fun one!
It is Challenge #70 entitled “Pretty Papers“. JustRite is asking everyone to “create your own designer paper“. You can use ANY JustRite stamp set including the new background stamps. The sky’s the limit!!

And now here’s my project for the JustRite challenge to create pretty papers.
Stripes – I love them! Every time I open and first use a new pad of paper, I pull out a sheet of narrow stripes and pair it up with another sheet of pattern, often florals. I just love the classic look of narrow strips. However, often pads don’t have stripes and if they do, it’s usually only 2 or 3 sheets at most.
I was totally elated when JustRite came out with the Ticking Stripe Background stamp. I will never again have to be wishing for that sheet of stripes as I can make my own in ANY color that I need. Today’s stripes were stamped with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Dusty Rose onto SU Very Vanilla cardstock, and it was a fabulous color match to the paper pad used – Charlotte’s Dream by Kaisercraft.
And just one word about the versatility of the Ticking Stripes. I have used them today on a rather elegant card but this classic stripe can work in a vareity of situations. I saw a card done with the stripes run horizontally in red to create a US flag, they can be stamped over designer paper to give a diffrerent, but coordinated look, and they can certainly be very vintage when working in that direction. Ticking Stripes will fit into just about any design scheme.
And as to my card for today — when I began making it last evening, it was going to be a wedding card as I have at least 7 or 8 weddings to create cards for this summer. However, before I was finished, I realized I needed another feminine sympathy card, so I changed courses.
The With Sympathy banner at the card bottom was created using With Sympathy by JustRite and the banner was cut using Spellbinders Nautical Frames and Accents.
Here you can see a close up view of those Ticking Stripes and how well they compliment the florals.
Ribbon used is 1.25″ Silk Ribbon by May Arts in Champagne. The bow was made on the Original Bow Easy.
Flowers are by Prima – both Angelica Roses in Jewel and Fairtytale Roses in Coral (the red pack).
The pins are by Prima also – Petal Pins. They come in 3 styles and these are the pearls.
I use Aleene’s glues from superstores on my floral cluster. It is very inexpensive and holds tight. Once my cluster is created, I do hold and press a bit until the glue takes hold. Once dried, it’s on forever. When I make a bulkier cluster such as this, the pins are glued in as well.
And this is the card inside, made to coordinate with the front, using the same Ticking Stripe background stamp. Using the same ink pad, I then stamped the beatiful rose from With Sympathy over the ticking stripes. Then using Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink I stamped on the sentiment, also from With Sympathy. I hope this card brings some comfort to the recipient.
This card is a standard A2 size – 5.5 x 4.25″. As always, I insert all my bulkier cards into a Clear Box upon completion to protect them. This card fits into the A2 Clear Box. The Clear Boxes are also fabulous for presenting the card to the recipient and they can be mailed as well.

This card is stunning and I agree, that ticking stripe will be so very versatile. I have a question: what is used between the pearls on the stick pins? They’re beautiful!
