Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – CAS Graduation

Welcome!  It’s Saturday so that means another Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style challenge and HOP.  Today the design team was challenged to make some clean and simple graduation cards.  And I will preface this by saying that CAS is different to each of us.  On one end of the spectrum we have the clean and simple purists and then on the other end we have those who typically create quite lavishly and their clean and simple isn’t quite as CAS as the purists would prefer.  We aren’t fussy here — if a creation is CAS in the eyes of the creator, then CAS it is!  Variety is truly the spice of life!!!

Here’s what I made today for our CAS graduation challenge:

Certainly not my usual color palette, but these papers were just speaking to me last night.  I remember, both from my own experience (a LONG time ago) and more recently from that of our boys, the feelings of sheer delight that go along with high school graduation.  So though I usually go with either school colors or more preferably a classic black and white for graduation cards, why NOT make something super cheerful and bright to go along with the mood of the occasion?  Happy cards for a happy occasion!

Additionally, I remember the years when our boys were in high school and I’d have to make 20 – 30 graduation cards each year.  I think it’s just ingrained in my brain that grad cards NEED to be CAS because I’ll have to be making so many of them!  LOL — well, I don’t need that many each year any more, but the CAS part just kind of stuck!

And today’s cards are truly CAS — no ribbon and no embellishments!

All cards today use paper from the Country Garden Collection by Bo Bunny  — an absolutely delightful collection!

See the paper pad here and see the coordinates to the pad here.

VersaFine Onyx Black Ink was used on all cards for crisp, clear sentiments.

The card above uses a sentiment from As You Graduate by Our Daily Bread Designs.

Both sentiments used on this card are also from As You Graduate by Our Daily Bread Designs.

The die to cut the pennant is from Nested Pennant Dies by Spellbinders.

This card uses a wood mount stamp by Wordsworth called Graduation.

This card uses a wood mount stamp by Wordsworth called To Accomplish.

A little tip on elevating the sentiment panels.  I always like my cards to be good and solid.  Today my sentiment panels were stamped onto the designer paper and although this designer paper may be a bit heavier than some, I still wanted my raised sentiment panel to have more stability when I popped it up on the 3D Foam Squares.  To make it stronger, I just use scraps of cardstock and back the panel.  Sometimes I acutally use the same die and cut an exact backing and glue them together, but today I just used scraps and cut them at the paper cutter just slighly smaller than the sentiment panel.  It just makes the popped up panel more firm and solid when it’s elevated with the 3D Foam Squares.

All graduation stamp sets can be seen here.

All stamp sets in stock by Our Daily Bread Designs can see here.

All stamp sets by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth can be seen here:  Clear Stamps Sets and Wood Mount Stamps.

All items used on the above cards are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Once we are showcasing CAS graduation cards today, let me take the liberty of showing you a few I did last year.  They are more the classic black and white that I usually make:

Again, the Graduation stamp I used above.

Complete details on these black and white cards can be seen on this post.

Again, the same To Accomplish used above.

This card uses Casual Congrats by Wordsworth.

Again, refer to this post for more details on these black and white cards.
