Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Father’s Day

Welcome!  Today our weekly Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style Hop brings us some Father’s Day creations.  Many say that masculine cards are harder for them to make — so we hope to offer just a few ideas today that maybe you can use!  My card is quite simple and makes use of a recycled tag:

My focal image tag is actually from a pair of Levi’s.  Yes, I do save all the tags I come across that look like they’d be fun to use.  I have a huge drawer full — LOL!   About 5 or 6 years ago I was making a lot of cards with similar type tags from blue jeans.  They made up easily into fun cards, so I thought I’d try one again today, and was super pleased with how well my tag matched the paper pad used today.

Paper:  6×6 Pad by BoBunny – Weekend Market

You can see all the coordinates to Weekend Market here.

If you don’t have any tags on hand to recycle, you can certainly make your own tag from scratch or you can use items from the Weekend Market Noteworthy Die Cuts pack.

This card is 6.5 x 4.75″ to perfectly fit inside an A6 Clear Box, both for protection and presentation.

The layered stars were cut using Spellbinders Stars Five, elevated with 3D Foam Squares.

The cording is Burlap Cording in Burgundy, knotted on the ends and held in place at the highest point with a small glue dot.

The bracket type edging was fun and easy to make using Spellbinders Edgeabilities Classic Edges Two.  Although I didn’t use an insert today, combining Spellbinders Edgeabilites edges with the inserts gives you an unending combination of pretty and fun edges.

The stamp set used is Happy Father’s Day by Our Daily Bread Designs.

Here’s the card inside using the same pad – Weekend Market.

Happy Father’s Day was the stamp set used again.  The tool box was stamped in Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Tea Dye and the sentiment was stamped over it in VersaFine Onyx Black.

And did you GET IT?  The jean tag on the front is from Carpenter jeans, and the inside has a tool box?  LOL!!!  My attempt at being clever!

Other Father’s Day/Masculine Ideas

Since our blog hop has fewer participants than normal today, I thought I’d take the liberty of pointing out some other ideas for Father’s Day or a masculine theme in general.

This is the Stamp  Simply A Proper Gentleman KIT.  It’s been around for a few years, but I keep making it up as it continues to be in demand.  The paper pad is an 8×8 by Graphic 45 and is along the lines of classy/masculine/vintage and is a true keeper when it comes to masculine pads.

I did this card about 2 years ago using A Proper Gentleman Kit and Comfort, a clear set by Wordsworth.

This is a gift card or cash holder that I made about 1.5 years ago using A Proper Gentleman Kit.  The stamp is a retired JustRite stamp.

Here’s the inside — quick and easy, peasy!

And I would be remiss when we are talking about masculine themed projects if I didn’t point out this Timepiece Card Kit by Bo Bunny.  If you want quick cards, this is most definitely the way to go.  You can still dress them up more if you like, but there are adequate supplies in the Bo Bunny Card Kits to completely finish them off.

This is a set of cards I made about a year ago using the Timepiece Card Kit by Bo Bunny.  Quick, easy and FUN!!!  Everything you need is included in these kits — cards, envelopes and all embellishments (which are punch out — super easy).

If you’d like to see each card photographed individually — click here.

All Card Kits by Bo Bunny can be seen here.

Check out our Masculine Category for more masculine themed items.

  36. Kathy S says:

thanks for the inspiration- male cards are always a challenge and I love your ideas-thanks.

  37. Hi Sharon~

Wonderful cards! I love the tag you chose for your 1st card! It also has Levi on it…one of the 12 tribes of Israel! I thought the way you combined the Carpenter and the tool box was great…and it also reminded me of my Lord, Christ Jesus! Love how much depth you have with that star…and I love that ODBD stamp that you chose. It is wonderful for Father’s Day!

I have loved this kit since the first time I saw it. The rich colors. The variety of design papers. Half of the papers you show in the photo look like my husband’s ties! And, I love how well the Bo Bunny papers fit in with the others. The wood time pieces are so darn cute! You’re right, they could make a card on their own! Thank you for offering such an amazing set for this week’s prize. They’re all amazing…but I have my hopes set for this one!

  38. Charlotte says:

WOW! Absolutely LOVE all of your masculine cards! Thanks for sharing so many! Masculine cards are always a challenge – and, you rose to the occasion with style! LOVE the Levi/Carpenter tag you used on your first card. That’s an ingenious idea … recycling clothing tags! I’ll never look at a tag in the same way again. And, I love the layered stars and the dimension you achieved with them. Thank you for offering such fantastic blog candy again this week. LOVE those papers, and you’ve chosen some fantastic items to complement them.

  39. Tina says:

  43. LOVE, LOVE your masculine cards — I always enjoy the challenge of coming up with masculine cards and have a son & stepson born on the same day 16 years apart in December, so it is advantageous to have those birthday cards done far in advance — LOL! Sooo fun to have more male card ideas to add to my arsenal!

  44. Betty Goodson says:

I agree masculine cards are harder, just becuase I can’t use all the pretty ribbon and flowers. Unfortunately, my dad and only brother are gone, but I still have brother-in-laws and lots of friends, so ideas are appreciated. these were great.
