Let’s Make a Cake – with Barb Schram

When it comes to 3D projects and something just a bit out of the ordinary, Barb’s creations ALWAYS please!

Barb created this cake a few weeks back and shared it once, but I thought it was SO creative, clever and just so absolutely lovely that I wanted to share it here today.

I’ll share some peeks,  and you can refer to Barb’s Blog for full photos and details.

Isn’t this cake top JUST lovely!

Here’s what Barb used:

Stamp Set:  Ever After Antique Labels One by JustRite

Die:  Antique Labels One Dies made to go with the above set (produced by Spellbinders for JustRite)

Box base:  Melissa Frances Stacking Boxes – Set of 3 Oval (photo below)

Paper:  En Francais 6×6 pad by Prima

What a luscious bow/sentiment detail!

Ribbon:  May Arts 1.25″ Silk Ribbon (white), Seam Binding, May Arts 1/2″ Loop Trim (ivory)

Stamp:  Ever After Antique Labels One

Pearls:  Kaisercraft Pearls (Snow)

These are the Melissa Frances Stacking Boxes (set of 3 oval) that Barb used.

This is how Barb actually created her cake base:

Each oval tier has a box top and box bottom.  I permanently glued the tops on
the top two tiers so they will not open.  That way the decor will not  be
compromised when trying to open.  However the bottom box top can be removed with
the rest of the tiers securely glued in place.  A small gift, special
sentiments, or what ever you can think of gifting the Mr. & Mrs. on their
special day would be great!

One really nice thing about these particular boxes is — look at the lids — the lid sides cover the entire box bottom.  Which means you only have to cover the box top — one step saved, ALWAYS a good thing!

This package contains three stacking boxes: Large (2×3-1/4×4-5/8 inches); Medium (1-3/4×2-7/8×4 inches); Small (1-1/2×3-1/8×3 inches).

This is the May Arts 1/2″ Loop Trim that Barb used as the drippy icing on her cake.  It is so very delicate and lovely.  I was playing around with it last night, but didn’t have the time to create anything.  I had it layered on top of the 3/4″ Velvet — VERY  lush looking — so that’s where I’m headed with this trim when I find the time!!!

Items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Thank you for this Monday visit! Always love to *see* you!

We are supposed to get well into the 90’s today — WHEW — that’s TOO hot for me!  We’ve been having very warm weather of late.  I spend most time indoors so I don’t suffer with it as much as my guys do.  Looking forward to those 80-ish degree days in the forecast!   Actually 70 degrees with a breeze is about perfect for me!

Have a GREAT week ahead and if it’s too hot where you are — make a cake like Barb’s where NO heat is involved!

See you real soon!
