Silk Ribbon – Color Charts, Sampler Packs & Blog Candy

May Arts Silk Ribbon has been a long time favorite product here at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I don’t think that’s been any secret!   We know many of you love using silk ribbon as well, and to make it a bit easier in color selection and to take the guess-work out of it, Michelle has prepared a color chart for us to use, comparing May Arts Silk Ribbon colors to both Stampin’ Up cardstock colors and A Muse Studios cardstock colors.  I think you’ll enjoy these color charts and find them very useful. Thank you so much, Michelle, for your time and effort in this project!

The design team does have some projects to show you today, as well as some fabulous SILK RIBBON BLOG CANDY, so be sure to read completely to the end of the posts to see the projects and learn about the blog candy offerings.

Additionally, the May Arts Silk Ribbon is now available in Sampler Packs and you can see those just a bit further down.

Let’s begin with the color charts:

Beautifully done, Michelle!  Again, thank you SO much!!!

And here’s the card I made to share today:

A really quick and easy card!  Standard 4.25 x 5.5″ to fit inside an A2 Clear Box for protection, storage, gifting and/or mailing.

The paper used is from the Zephyr  Collection by Prima.  I used the 6×6 size pad.  Just one sheet of pretty paper applied to card front.

I used the 1.25″ Silk in Buttery Gold (included in  the Autumn Sampler Pack).

The ribbon is wrapped around the card front, pulled tightly and tied into a bow.  When I make a bow like this, it’s really nice to have someone else around to hold their finger on the knot while I form the bow.  Without that finger holding the knot, I have a harder time getting it tight enough.  I can do it alone, it’s just so much easier with that extra little bit of help — LOL!

My most-often-used bow treatment is to top off the bow center with a few Primas.  These are Fairytale Roses – Buttercup.

All Prima flowers can be seen here.

I use Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue from superstores to adhere the roses.

This lovely with Sympathy is from Large Fancy Sentiments, a clear set by JustRite.

That open space in the paper just begged for a sentiment, and this worked perfectly.

VersaFine Onyx Black Ink was used — my preferred ink for crisp, clear sentiments.

And that’s it!  Hope you liked it.

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.

  60. Rebecca Ednie says:

You should consider getting a tiny pair of forceps aka hemostats. They are a first aid or surgical tool and have a very tight grip but the tips are small and they lock tight until you unlock them. I used them as heavy duty tweezers for a while (another excellent reason to have them on your craft desk) but realized they make an excellent extra finger for tying bows! I tie the first part of the bow them clamp these on right at the edge of where the ribbons cross. Then I tie the rest and unclamp them. Perfect every time! You can get them at any place that sells first aid supplies or nurses uniforms. Make sure you get a small pair tho. The average ones are about 5″, you want ones that are about 3.5-4″ because the jaws are smaller. The larger ones are great for other things tho. Like getting the tops off bottles of glue!
