Cookies in a Jar Gift

Published by at 7 54 pm under Bo Bunny,Food Gifts,My Mind's Eye,Recipes

Earlier this week I found myself with a little  dilemma.  I had committed to bake for a bake sale on Saturday.  Well, an unexpected little trip cropped up at the last minute, so I wasn’t going to be home to bake.  Had I baked before I left, the bakery would have been 3 days old by Saturday, so baking before I left was not an option.  Oh, what to send to the bake sale???  How about Cookies in a Jar?  GREAT idea, right?

I quickly Googled and found THIS RECIPE and it had tags you could print as well — perfect for a last minute project.  I will say, there was supposed to be room in the jar for raisins on top — well there wasn’t.  The jar was filled to the top with just the basic ingredients and I did make sure they were all well settled and compressed.  The recipient will have to add their own raisins — so sorry about that — I really wanted to put raisins in as well.

Here’s how they turned out:

These are quart mason jars with standard lids.

The ribbon I chose to use is the 1.5″ Cotton Stripes in pink and celery.  I thought this was a good choice as it reminds me of vintage dish towels, in keeping with the theme.

I am partial to wide ribbon and large bows, but if some might like this look but prefer a narrower ribbon and smaller bow, these Cotton Stripes also come in a 5/8″ width.

It took exactly 1 yard of ribbon to wrap around the jar lid and tie the bow.

I used a bit of Scor Tape on the opposite side of the bow to keep the ribbon from slipping.  You should be able to twist off the ring and have the ribbon/bow stay in tact.

The paper used was cut with my Circles Nesties – so quick and easy!

The pink sheets are from Fiddlesticks by My Minds Eye.

The green sheets are from Welcome Home by Bo Bunny.

My recipe tag was printed from the link at the top of this post onto SU Very Vanilla.  I just backed them with cardstock, SU Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery.

They are tied onto the bow knot with Divine Twine Baker’s Twine in Cotton Candy and Apple Green.

And there you have it — these would be fun to do in Halloween, Autumn and Christmas themes!
