The card Deb shares today just touches my heart and brings thoughts of my Mother.  Of course, anything sewing themed makes me think of my Mom.  When I was young she sewed all of the outfits my sister and I wore, from dresses to pj’s and cute little pedal pusher outfits.  And she made clothes for our Barbies.  Zillions of Barbie doll outfits.  We had little trunks full of them!  As we got to be older I remember the pant suits, bell bottoms and capes. Then as more years passed it was slacks, skirts and blouses suitable for office attire.  Then she filled our respective homes with quilts, curtains, throw pillows and tablecloths.  And then, finally, it was fitted cradle sheets with matching bumpers and quilts and things for baby.  The cycle went full circle.  And we are now about 28 years past all those first baby items.  My Mom hasn’t been sewing for quite a few years.  Though she is in general good health, she suffers from arthritis and her hands no longer are able to  pick up those needles and pins and manipulate the fabric.  But our homes, lives and memories are filled with all those little reminders of the love and care that went into all those hundreds upon hundreds of items she so lovingly made for all of us.  And I thank her for not only that, but for teaching me how to sew at an early age and for teaching me that if you’re going to do a job, you’re best off to take pride in your work and do it well.  Valuable lessons that last a lifetime.  Thank you, Mom!!!

Steve and I are enjoying dinner out today with my Mom and Dad.  We have no children around this weekend.  Everyone is scattered in other states,  so we have just the 4 of us for dinner today.  I feel so blessed to still have my Mom and Dad here.  God is Good!
