Bridal Shower Gift Card – with a Twist!

Oh, did I have fun with this one! It was for a bridal shower I attended yesterday. We’ve certainly had a summer full of weddings and showers, and I have completely given up on shopping in stores! I get all the gifts from the online registries and it is SO easy.

In the case of today’s card, Heather lives in Nebraska and is home this week for her bridal shower in Michigan.  I ordered a clock from her registry at Pottery Barn and had it sent to her home in Nebraska.  I saw no need for her to haul it back to Nebraska from Michigan when I could send it direct.  So, that was easy, but it leaves me in a situation of having no gift to bring to the shower, no gift card, no nothing –  so here’s what I did:

I printed the photo from the Pottery Barn online catalog of the clock I purchased from her registry and used it as the focal image for the card.  I selected a paper pad with colors to match the photo, some ribbon and flowers and then it came together pretty quickly.

Paper:  Marigold by Kaisercraft; SU Very Vanilla

(Beautiful blues, greens, rusty oranges and browns in this pad!)

Ink:  Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Antique Linen; Sponge Dauber

You can barely see, but the green scallop with brown lacey trim is a punch out from the back of the pad.

The creamy lace on top of that is actual lace.

Here’s a close up of the floral/bow detail.

Ribbon:  May Arts 1/4″ Silk – Celery and Ivory; 3/8″ Crochet Lace Trim – Natural

Flowers:  Prima Lady Godiva – Limeade; Prima Leaves – Velvet Rainbow Natural

Dies: Spellbinders Foliage Two

Miscellaneous:  Bow made on the Original Bow Easy

To make this bow I wrapped a double strand of ribbon (one celery, one ivory) around the largest legs of the Original Bow Easy, three times.  This gives me 6 loops.

And I used the computer to print out my inside message, telling her the gift was sent directly to her home.

This card is a bit larger than normal, at 4.75 x 6.5″, made to fit perfectly into an A6 Clear Box, which made for perfect presentation at the shower while perfectly protecting the card!

FUN little project!  Hope you enjoyed it!

And here’s a quick visual of some of the things I used today:

From top left clockwise:

Marigold paper pad by Kaisercraft

3/8″ Narrow Crochet Lace by May Arts - Natural

1/4″ Silk by May Arts - Celery and Ivory

Note that the Celery ribbon is looking very washed out, both in this photo as well as on the photos of the card.  It is a much brighter green, closer in intensity to the colors in Prima flowers shown.
