Window Frame Wreaths – by Holly McMillen
Holly’s window frame wreaths totally blew me away! What a FUN project and what WONDERFUL gifts! Holly employed the use of her talented carpenter husband to create her window frames; however, one could use purchased or recycled picture frames with the same effect. Take a look:
Aren’t these WONDERFUL!!! They are 21″ square.
Holly used 3 different finishes – white (so fresh and crisp), red with dots (totally fun) and a faux wood finish on real wood (genius)!
I wanted to show you how she did the faux wood finish.
The 3 photos tell the story. The first shows you all 3 frames.
To create the faux wood finish, Holly used a stencil and embossing paste, just like you would on a card. Once dry she covered with 2 coats of paint and then some Memento ink for a more distressed wood look.

Here’s a closer look at the white frame.
Plexiglass was installed for the glass portion and Holly used a combination of vinyl cuts from her Silhouette Cameo and paper die cuts using her dies to decorate the glass.
