Mother’s Day Potpourri Jar – A Sunday School Craft Project

Mother’s Day crept up on me really quickly it seems. I was in a tizzy this evening to come up with a craft project my Sunday School class could do tomorrow. They LOVE making things for their moms. I had picked up a few bags of potpourri and had some mason jars at home, and of course there is no lack of pretty ribbon around here, so here’s what I came up with:

Jar1 480x615

I used a quart mason jar, filled it with potpourri, created a tag and decorated the top.

Pretty quick and easy and I think my class of upper elementary students will be able to handle this project just fine. I know they’ll love putting the potpourri into the jars.

Jar 2 480x536

Here’s a look at the top.  I cut 3 pieces of 6″ tulle, 12″ long each, and just laid them across the top, alternating the direction, so when the jar ring was screwed on it created a ‘skirt’ of sorts.

Jar3 480x358

I then wrapped 1/2″ Scor Tape around the ring and easily adhered the pink scallop satin.

Jar 2 480x536

I then added a bit more 1/2″ Scor Tape on top of the satin in front, allowing me to tape on my shabby roses, leaves and string for my tag.

I think this would be a pretty little gift item for any time of year, not only Mother’s Day.

Here’s my complete supply list:
