Dutch Door Yooper Card – by Deb Felts

We are here today with another of our locally themed cards. I hope those of you who aren’t into “The Yoop” can view this fun card design and imagine an image on top other than our Upper Peninsula of Michigan map. Deb created a dutch door card and made fabulous use of designer papers to tell her story. How fun! Take a look:

The UP map is on the upper portion while the images in the paper on the lower portion of the card perfectly reflect life here in the UP – trees, cabins, wildlife and trucks!

The card base is the dark green. Deb applied the designer paper on the upper portion over the green, first cutting out the UP shape so the green shows through. Once the designer paper was adhered, Deb then stamped the UP into the die cut opening and embossed in white.

Deb placed an enamel dot over her husband’s home town where they vacation each summer.

The {906} is every Yooper’s call sign, being the only telephone area code covering the entire Upper Peninsula. Local snowbirds wear 906 t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats so they can identify each other while down south during our cold winter months. Strangers become friends very quickly! Kind of fun!!!
