Traveler’s Notebook/Journal/Calendar – by Deb Felts

Deb wanted to start her new year off with a new journal/calendar and she felt using some of our scriptural stamps that have to do with a clean heart and becoming a new creation are so perfect for this time of year. I agree! Take a look:
Deb took a traveler’s notebook insert and fancied up the cover with pretty papers, stencils, inks, embossing paste, and splatters of gold. The project is textural but still very low profile to keep it easy to write in, and the cover layout would work just as easily as a card front, flat for mailing.
I love the printed papers that create Deb’s base layer. She began with a solid “grungy” sheet from the Grunge Dark pad and cut out and applied the hexagons from Eastern Influences. Both paper pads are by Craft Consortium. She then stenciled and splattered atop all.
And note the scored binding strip using the Pearlescent Metallic Cardstock in gold. It ties in perfectly with the gold embossing done randomly on the front.
Deb used Psalm 51:10 for her cover as it is the perfect verse to begin the new year.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
It is found in our stamp set called Words of Encouragement.
Opening up the journal this is the first two-page spread, beginning with Happy New Year on top left and ending with another beautifully scripted verse from scripture on the bottom right, Corinthians 5:17.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; all things have become new.”
This beautiful inside spread involved some smashing, smearing, stenciling, splashing and stamping.
I think this journal is just STUNNING and a great way to begin the new year!
