Artfully Asian Autumn

These are two cards I’ve done using the Artfully Asian set. In all honesty, I’m not too crazy about either of them as they just do not reflect my usual style and preference, but they were both made with a specific purpose in mind, and I guess we don’t all always love 100% of what we do — LOL!!! Since I did make them, I will post them here. I’m an equal opportunity author — the good and the bad — LOL!!!

This first card is a very simple autumn sympathy card I needed to make for an elderly uncle of ours. He lost a lifelong friend, so this card is for our uncle to give to his friend’s family. It HAD to be a plain and simple card. I found a lovely simple little card in the gallery of stampertammy, who was today’s Featured Stamper on SCS, so I cased that to play along in the challenge. Here is Tammy’s card. I subbed a strip of paper for the ribbon and added a little more stamping, but it’s the same basic layout.

All stamping is black embossed. The leaves are colored with pad ink and an aquapainter.Although this is all SU, several items used are retired. I dearly loved Morning Marigold lastyear, so I made sure I had enough to last a bit longer!!!

  • Stamps: Artifully Asian, Warmest Regards (retired)
  • Paper: Basic Black, Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Morning Marigold (retired)
  • Ink: Versa Mark and Marigold Morning and Baroque Burgundy (both retired)
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Black Detail EP, Vintage Brads, Mounting Tape
  • Measurements: Card is 5.5 x 4.25; main image panel is 2 x 2.25; black strip is 1/2″ wide.

Next is a thank you card I made a month or so ago. This card had a specific purpose as well. We were doing a very feminine Artfully Asian card at a workshop, seen here. Since Artfully Asian was a new set to most of my ladies, I wanted to have a card on hand to show them the versatility of the set — that even though we were doing a most definitely feminine card, Artfully Asian does have another side to it — LOL!!! So this was my attempt at a more bold, masculine type of card using Artfully Asian.

Four of the five stamps in this set were used on this card. All the background stamping is done tone on tone. Thank you and the leaves are black embossed and colored in with an aquapainter and pad ink. This was another one of my Scrap Cards, where the layout just sort of comes together based on the size of the scrap pieces I pick up to use.

  • Stamps: Artfully Asian
  • Paper: More Mustard, Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, Natural White
  • Ink: Above plus Versa Mark and a Sahara Sand Marker to outline leaves
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Brads, Photo Corner Punch, Sponges
  • Measurements: Card 5.5 x 4.25; NQN strip is 2″ wide; OO piece is 4 x 3.25; main image panel is 2.5 x 2.25.

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!! I am working on some Autumn Themed scrapbook pages to post, hopefully on Monday!!! Thanks much!!!

    Hi Sharon,

I’ve come across your beautiful designs via UK Scrappers. I think the Artfully Asian Autumn card is stunning and could be so versatile. I’ve also had a look at Tammy’s card, her work is amazing too.

I love the shape of this card and it seems to be a standard card format used by SCS members. Is this a card blank or do you cut card to this shape? I’ll be very grateful if you can let me know the dimensions.

    Happy stamping and best regards,

    Chris
