Stamp Simply Challenge #9 – Quick Measures

Challenge #9 – Keyword SSnotime09-There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

I wasmore than a little brain dead tonight when I had to come up with this challenge, so I had to resort to doing something quick — thus the challenge, Quick Measures — things that we do/use to make cards super quick when there just is No Time To Stamp (LOL)(or when we’re brain dead!!!). You may incorporate any Quick Measures into your card that you routinely fall back on. Please share your favorite quick measures with us in your description. For some ideas, here are the Quick Measures I incorporated into my sample card — you may use these or your own Quick Measures:

  • Use of Designer Paper = great backgrounds
  • Solid Image Stamps = instant color with no extra work
  • Use of punches = instantly adds geometric interest
  • Zap of Color = pizzazz and eye appeal
  • Elevation =added interest without much effort
  • Sparkle = eye catching appeal

Other things I often fall back on, though did not use on this card are:

  • Dramatic ribbon treatment = great WOW appeal
  • Use of 1 set only = less decisions to make/less to clean

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma. Please come back here to post (as a comment) that youve played, and provide a linkso I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before. If thats you and you need help uploading, just go to my Challenge No. 1 and instructions are there.

  • Stamps: Perfect Presentation, Many Merry Messages
  • Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White, Wintergreen Designer Paper
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Real Red, Sage Shadow, Soft Sky
  • Accessories: Ribbons, Brads, Crafter’s Tool Kit, Dimensionals, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Punches: 1/2″, 1″, 1 1/4″ Circles, Ticket Corner.

It might look like there is a lot to this card, but there really isn’t. I started with my Wintergreen Designer Paper and thought I’d use the snowflake background which would go well with the tree and snowman from Perfect Presentation. I stamped each of those images on white and mattedin red. I have several different strips of DP as I was using up scraps again — figured the white under the snowman and tree could represent the snow. I stamped Merry Christmas on the bottom in black and wanted to incorporate a bit more black into the card, so I used it on my round sentiment and also to mat the sentiment. The Dec 25 is popped up, stamped in red for a little extra punch. I stamped that sentiment twice, once in black and once in red, then punched the center Dec 25 out with a 1/2″ punch and used a 1″ punch for the North Pole. The entire layered sentiment is then adhered to the card with another Dimensional. Added two red brads in the upper corner for balance and did a simple ribbon treatment on the bottom — no fussing with fancy bows here. I just ran my wide red grosgrain around thepanel and adhered on the back, then just quickly tied on a little piece of the black gingham, which added another needed touch of black and balanced things off for me. Then I still wanted a bit of sparkle, so I merely traced the tree and snowman with a glue pen and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds — done!!!

Hope you can play sometime and I really look forward to reading what your Quick Measures are that you routinely fall back on!!! Thanks so much for looking!

This is wonderful – so adorable and cheery. Even though I am a slow stamper and do find your challenges *challenging* :0) I do rely on all of the above to help me some. I also use sketches or layouts from cards to help in design. I hope I have time to do this.

Good Morning, I haven’t had time for a challenge all week so I’m looking forward to this one tonight. Cute, cute sample. I love the sketch, might have to case it. Were you hiding this last night? Have a great day.

Love your card Sharon! Surely doesn’t look like you did it quickly LOL.
Love the wintergreen dp and the stamps you used. I also like how you tied on the gingham to the wide grosgrain.

Love your card, looks great! You ask for a quick measure, so I looked in my scrap pile and found this piece of dp and went from there. Here’s mine, it’s pretty simple: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/724316?cat=500&ppuser=118730

Well Sharon you inspired me a couple ways this week. I took your advice since I to had the periphery paper and tried to utilize it so it looked made for my card. It is very plain but I can always add bling or metal if need be. So my quick version of card making is to: make a few minimal time consuming cards, with great paper and little decor. Add sentement/bling/glitz and shine as needed. Your card will then be done in NOTIME!! Thanks for the challenge and ideas.

    Striking card Sharon!

Great challenge Sharon! The thing I do to make quick cards is to case a card I have already done. That way I know the layout, approximate sizes of paper panels, brad and ribbon placement, etc. So, I chose an image, then look at my gallery for a card with a similiar shaped image and go from there. For my cards today, I used lots of RAK’d stuff! Gotta love my SCS friends! And, Sharon, your card is adorable! Love that DP. So fun and light!

OMG Sharon, this is a quick card?!? I always reach for my DP’s to start a quick card. Hope to play soon. TFS another fun card. Nancy

I just learned more about…….myself! I discoverd what I reach for 1st for a quick card. My designer papers, then punches, then embellishments and finally a sentiment. Very little stamping involved. Thanks again Sharon for a fun and quick challenge. Enjoy, Nancy

Here’s my Holiday Quick Measures creation. I am apparently too tired to read the instructions correctly, so I incorporated Sharon’s quick measures rather than my own … I may try another later in the week.

Love, love, love this card! The color combo is so striking.

  18. Debbie (DeborahLynneS) says:

This was a fun challenge– I usually do similar quick measures as was already mentioned– designer paper, simple layout, etc…
One thing that I like to also do to add a pop of color is red tape down a strip/strips of ribbon (not tied in bows or knots– just flat, accenting a line or edge). It adds extra texture and a special touch.

    Here’s my example:

    Thanks, Sharon!!!

Here’s another quick measures card … I love to dress up stickers with layers when I need a quick creation.
