Stamp Simply #70 – Senior Citizens Rule!!!
Keyword ssnotime70 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!)can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.
This weeks challenge is all about having fun with ourselves!!! And I hope no one takes offense with this challenge as it certainly was not intended that way — the intent is merely to have fun and be able to enjoy where we are in life — wherever that may be!!!
Today is my birthday, my 55th birthday!!! Oh good gracious, how did that happen!!! I don’t feel a day over 25 (most of the time)!!! So today we will make a card that is suitable to give to a Senior Citizen!!! Yes, I know Senior Citizens like ALL types of cards, but today let’s try to make a card that when we look at it we think — gee, that sure looks like an *Old Lady* card — LOL!!! (or Old Man, if you prefer). This is totally open to your interpretation — you could go vintage, you could go humorous, or anything else you can dream up — WHATEVER strikes your fancy!!! Most importantly, have fun!!! Can’t wait to see what you do!!!
Some great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today can be seen on the blogs of these designers:Julie, Janine, Jennifer, Tammy, Dee, Becky, AJ,and Deb. Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking tonight.
You can see all Gallery Submissions here.
What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!
Heres myproject for todays challenge:
Think an Old Lady would like this — LOL!!! I had fun making it. I used one of my favorite products that I just don’t use all that often — Cotton Scraps by Crafty Secrets — FUN little swatches of fabric with all these gorgeous images. Today I fringed mine and sewed it onto the pink panel behind it, then distressed the paper edges.
The *Love You* on the heart was made using the new lower case font being introduced by JustRite at CHA next week. I LOVE that we now will have lower case font to add to our upper case font, giving us so many more options for sentiments!!!
I used Trompe Script Font for my first letters and then switched to the new Times New Roman Lower Case Font for the remaining letters — fun to do!!! They are mounted on the smaller of the rectangle stampers in the Harmony Rectangle Stamper Set. Here’s a closeup look at the sentiment:
Isnt’ it pretty AND Old-Ladyish — LOL!!! The elements I incorporated into this card that I thought would appeal to an older woman are:
A larger sized card (this is 5.25 x 7.75″)
Soft Pinks and Browns
Stick Pin and Pearls
Cotton Scraps & Sewing (reminds me of quilts)
Vintage Style (though clean vintage)
Pretty Designer Paper with vintage feel
Lace and Scallop Borders
Stamps: Trompe Script Font, Times New Roman Lower Case Font, used on the Harmony Rectangle Stamper, all by JustRite. Anna Griffin Background by All Night Media.
Paper: PTI Vintage Cream; SU Pink Pirouette, Prism Suede Brown Medium, Crafty Secrets Classic Heartwarming Vintage Collection Pad.
Ink: Color Box Chalk in Chestnut Roan; Palette in Burnt Umber; SU Pretty in Pink.
Accessories: Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps (Family); SU Taffeta Ribbon; Spellbinders Classic and Scalloped Heart Nestabilities; Cuttlebug Border Die; Martha Stewart Scallop Punch; 1/8 hand held punch; Stick pin, pearls (JoAnns and SU); Kaiser Pearls; SU Distressing Tool; Sewing Machine and Thread; Glue Pen; Glue Glider; SU Dimensionals , Mounting Squares , Scor-It.
Again, I just want to say thanks for stopping in!!! I hope you can find time to play if this challenge interests you — I can’t wait to see what all the players feel are Old Lady cards — LOL!!! We are having very, very cold temps — wishing for a bit of a warm up! Hope you are warm and cozy and off to a safe weekend!!!

Happy Birthday Sharon!! I hope you have a fantastic day. This will certainly be a challenge for me. I love your card. It’s such a great example. I hope to play this weekend.
I must be an “old lady” because this is my favorite card in a long time!!! LOL I love elegant cards and this is over the top!!! I may have to check out the scraps place, I never knew what to do with them but this is stunning!!
O.K. – I’m not old (at least in your definition – mine too) …….. by the way Happy Birthday ……. however I would love, love, love to receive this card. I think an elderly woman would absolutely treasure this card. It’s just simplt gorgeous!!!
Happy, happy Birthday!! And I don’t use the “o” word. I prefer “mature”. (must be said with that uppity tone and nose slightly elevated in the air)LOL!! Another beautiful card. Thank you for blessing us with your talent!
from a more “mature”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I think this card is gorgeous and I would certainly like to receive something like this. I guess it does look a little old fashioned with what looks like cabbage roses and the pink and tan color. I would love to have a stamp with the “Family” saying.
Dear Sharon…..want to wish you a very Happy Birthday….we share this Birthday….but I wish (not really) I was 55…..I am 64 today.
May God bless you and keep you, may you be spared to enjoy Him and may you be long spared to enjoy this ‘hobby’ we share.
With Birthday wishes and Christian love

Wishing you a very, very happy birthday, Sharon. I hope the sun is
shining for you in the UP as it is for us here just north of Detroit. Many
you have many more lovely days ahead. Your card is beautiful, as
always. I’m sure a lady of “any” age would love to receive it.
P.S. My birthday is in March! LOL Happy day!
What a fun challenge. I hope that I can always keep a light spirit about my age. The lighter our spirit the lighter our “real age” I believe. Happy, Happy Birthday!
Beautiful card, Sharon — I love it (that must mean I’m old, too, LOL!). And a very happy birthday to you!!
Happy Birthday Sharon! From the first day I found your blog I have enjoyed your creations immensely and that’s been over a year ago since I started visiting. My birthday is tomorrow and I’ll be 56 so we are sort of kindred spirits which explains why I enjoy your blog so much. Keep up the great work & TFS! Sheila
Happy Birthday Sharon! Hope you have the greatest day ever!!
Happy Birthday fellow Capricorn! Mine was last week (my 50th (yikes!) on Elvis day) and my mom’s is tomorrow. We are a fine bunch of lovely gals, and I don’t mind saying so!
Your card is wonderful and inspiring. I’ll be making a few extra for Mom, just in case someone forgets a card. Just an excuse to play, really 🙂
Enjoy your day and do whatever makes you happy!

A very happy birthday to you, Sharon! You are just the greatest. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome talent with all of us.
I don’t think it’s “old lady” at all !! It’s Victorian and Romantic and Feminine and well…maybe… just a tad suited to an “old lady” :):) No matter how you look at it – it’s creative and beautiful. It inspired me to get moving on creating some Valentine cards for my kids and family/friends who live 2500 miles away from me at the moment and we all know how long it takes ‘snail mail’ ! Thanks Sharon!
Happy Birthday, Sharon!!! I think that as long as your spirit is young you will never be old! Wishing you a very special day, filled with love, family, and good friends! Of course, a few special crafting gifts would also be nice:) Love your card!! – I think a lady of any age with gentle sensibilities would love it!! Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Happy birthday, Sharon!!
I have made a card for a friend who is turning 50 today, a funny card and I thought it would do for the challenge.
I don’t think you are a senior if you are 50, you have to be at least, let’s say…………..70,LOL!

Happy Birthday! I just LOVE your card! This challenge sounds like a lot of fun… hope I get a chance to play!
I’m wishing a Wonderful Birthday to one of the greatest inspirations for me, a stamper of about 5 years. I do not have a blog yet, but I MAY be heading that way. I didn’t start stamping until I was a senior citizen, love the emphasis you have this week. I love your blog, and check it out more than any other one at splitcoast (usually 3 times weekly at least}. At age 66, I love making cards for everyone around. Everyone seems to enjoy getting them!!!! Happy Birthday, Nancy Moorefield / Englewood, FL
Love it! And thanks for the sneek peek of the JustRite stamps!
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy Birthday to you!!!!!! I hope you had a wonderful day!
Old lady card or not, it is simply beautiful and reminds me of a Victorian Valentine card :).

I hope you had a great 55th birthday, Sharon! You are not old…not by a long shot! I know you have many years of crafting ahead of you! I played in your challenge because my DH needed a 50th card and I know 50 is not a senior, but I played anyway for the heck of it! I hope you can stop by SCS or my blog to see it! Enjoy your birthday weekend!
Lisa

Here’s my take on the senior citizens’ card:
http://sueblondin.blogspot.com/2009/01/senior-citizens-rule.html
Happy Birthday…yes this is definitely an old lady card….because I love it and my grandchildren think I’m old (70). Really very sweet and one which my Aunts and Grandmothers would have been thrilled to receive.
