Stamp Simply #151 – One Layer Cards
One Layer Cards – Today’s challenge is brought to us by Barbara Anders and here is what Barbara says: I’m challenging everyone to make a one layer card. That means only the card base–not the base + one other layer–no layers allowed, LOL! Embellish however you want–ribbon, buttons, bling, scoring–anything goes, but no layers. Sounds fun, Barbara — can’t wait to try this and anxious to see what everyone does!
Anyone is welcome and invited to play! SCS Keyword is ssnotime151 for those who upload at SCS. There is no time limit. You can play this challenge anytime at all. The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!
And be sure to Link to Mr. Linky below.

And today I have a very quick and easy card one layer card to show you:
For my one layer card I embossed the upper portion of plain white cardstock with a Cuttlebug Folder (turned sideways to only emboss the upper portion), used a simple sentiment on the lower right, wrapped around a ribbon, tied it with 1/8″ silk so the tails stuck out like leaves, added a lace flower and called it done!
This lace flower tutorial can be found on Deb’s blog here.
Items used from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store:
Stamp: Heart Sing by Wordsworth
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black
Ribbon: 1″ Satin Edge Grosgrain (Turquoise), 1.25″ Crochet Lace (White), 1/8″ Silk (White).

Thanks so much for stopping in again today. Hope you can find some time to try a One Layer Card — not my usual style, but it was fun to give it a try!!! We’ve just returned from a mini two-day vacation and it’s always so good to get home — LOL!!! Fun to go, but always good to get home, too! Now, to try to get caught up again!!!
Here’s a few things of interest to watch for:
Deb Saaranen is feeling really generous this month. She’s purchased 4 of the Stamp Simply KITS to give away as Blog Candy — one each week during the month of August. Check out the details over at Deb’s Blog.
The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store DT will be having their monthly Blog Hop on Tuesday, 8/10, so I hope you can plan to stop in for that!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Thanks Sharon, I had such a great time as Guest Designer! : )
Your card is so pretty and light, love it.
What a beautiful card. You pulled off one layer and elegant all at the same time!
Anything you do turns out beautifully! Love your one layer, and the lace is a perfect touch. I think my card got linked. 🙂
So crisp and summery! Loving that bloom in the white and turquoise!
Love your card and the challenge. So many cards are pretty, but not practical for mailing. Simple is what I like and seems to be hard to find. Great job!
Stunning, Sharon! I love all that white and that ribbon is just the perfect pop of color!

The embossing was a great way to do that one layer challenge, that is a hard one!

[…] CAS style. I certainly do. Oh, and before I forget – my cards meet the criteria for Stamp Simply #151 challenge – One Layer Cards – as featured on the No Time To Stamp? […]
That lace flower looks spectacular on your card, Sharon! I love the embossing and all the one layer goodness!
Love your card! One layer cards are a challenge for me – the “Bling Queen” ;P It was fun to do — I used a technique I just learned in a class last month. We didn’t do one layer, but it was easy to adapt. 1st card I made since I went on vacation to San Elijo State Beach – in Cardiff by the Sea – lovely little town.
Beautiful card! Here is mine:

Great challenge and I love your card! will have to go and take a look at the DT samples as well!
I have a one layer card, that maybe doesn’t look like one 😉 But it REALLY is only ONE layer (besides the card base)! The layers you can see on my card are all digitally created and printed 🙂
HERE it is

This was very challenging! I love what everyone else has done with the challenge, I’m only “so-so” about my entry but it did make me think outside the box – and that was fun! Thanks!
Great challenge as always. Thanks!
