Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Lace

We are back today with our regular Saturday Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  Today we are focusing on Lace. I know we all love using our laces, and whether they be incorporated into vintage themes or more modern classics, they add a warm and comforting touch to any project.  I think you’ll love what the design team girls have come up with for today.  As ususal, the Blog Candy is at the end of the post, and here’s my LACE project for today:

Today I made a card and yes, another box.  I get on these box kicks and it’s hard to stop!!!

The paper used today is Blush, a 6×6 pad from the Lost and Found Two Collection by My Mind’s Eye. LOVE these pads!

The cardstock is SU Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip.

May Arts Lace used is 1.5″ Crochet Lace, 1” Vintage Lace with Velvet Center and 100% Silk Ribbon, both 1.25″ and 1/4″.

This card measures 6.5″ x 4.75″ — a size I love of late.  Making cards a bit larger allows me to use every inch of the 6″ wide paper and with all the lovely designs incorporated onto the paper sheets, I don’t have to waste any at all.  This size also fits perfectly into my A6 Clear Box, used both for protection of these very dimensional cards and they make a really WOW presentation.  They can also be mailed!

To apply lace to the card start by laying down a strip of Scor Tape where you want your first layer of gathered lace.  Then securing on one end, just gently gather up your lace as you adhere it to the tape.  For consistency, I used my thumb as a guide and left one thumb width between each gather/pleat I made.  That makes it easy to get it evenly distributed.  Once that gathered layer of  lace is down, lay another strip of Scor Tape on top of the gathers.  Now you can place your strip of lace/velvet down on top and it’ll stick.  And that’ll do it!

Just wanted to show you a close up of some of the details.

Pearl Flourishes by Kaisercraft.

New Vintage Trinkets Tiny Treasures by Prima, available in a variety of styles/packs. (Soooo pretty).

Greetings from Paris cling stamp by JustRite.  This paper goes so well with the stamp set, it’s hard to tell what was stamped on the paper what came printed on the paper.

There are 3 JustRite cling sets in this shabby chic style that all work beautifully together — Greetings from ParisBon Voyage, and Shabby Chic Labels Four (yes, it was designed to work perfectly with Spellbinders Labels Four as does Greetings from Paris).

VersaFine Vintage Sepia Ink.

The roses on this project were hand made, in about 2 minutes each, using 1.25″  100% Silk by May Arts and Glubers.  The Glubers do come with instructions on the packaging, but if you like to see photo tutorials or video tutorials, I’d like to send you to this one done by Beate at Splitcoaststampers.  Beate is using adhesive sheets and punching out her own circles, but the Glubers have already done that for you.  Other than that, if you follow her tutorials you’ll get these beautiful roses in no time flat — TRULY!!!  Each rose you make will be truly unique.  You can change the look merely by how loosely or tightly you twist, turn and wrap the ribbon.  You change the size by selecting a different size Gluber (adhesive circle).

I used 1.25″ Silk (ivory) for the rose and 1/4″ Silk for the bow — a triple bow made on the Bow Easy, and Kaisercraft Pearls.

This is a shot of the card inside using a pretty sheet from the same pad – Blush.

Here’s the box opened.  It was made to coordinate with the card using the same paper, lace and ribbon, and I included another little dangling  embellishment from the same package of  Vintage Trickets Tiny Treasuers.  The Eiffel Tower goes perfectly with the paper used.

Box instructions can be seen on this post.  This box was made with a 6×6 pad — Blush.

This is a side view of the box.  The lace was applied the same way as it was on the card, just going all the way around the box top.

And what would one put in a tiny 2″ box like this?  Well, anything that fits!  How about a votive or tea light candle?  Even the smallest of gifts can look totally WOW when gently wrapped in a lovely tissue paper and inserted into a pretty box.  Or make up a tiny bag of candy, or fill with some Hershey Kisses wrapped in foil.  Or if you are making these as little girlfriend exchange gifts — goodness, the sky is the limit — fill with buttons, ribbons, lace, charms — make it a true treasure to open and dump out!!!  Or what a lovely presentation for a gift of jewelry, or tickets or a gift certificate (folded paper, a credit card type won’t fit).  And if I even dare say this, the type of *skimpy* underwear the girls wear nowadays would easily fit in as well — LOL!!!  Enough said!!!  If you have any other ideas, please share by way of comment — I’d LOVE to hear them.

This is a better look at the Eiffel Tower charm from  Vintage Trinkets Tiny Treasures (this package is called Paris) - there are SO many pretty package assortments available.

This is the rose on the box top with a bow made on the Bow Easy.

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

    Hi Sharon~

WOW…I think this card and box could be the give-away next week…it would be sensational! I love how you showed us in depth how to use the lace, silk and velvet together…these are delicious ingredients for a truly rich card and box! I will be attempting to make my own flower this weekend! How exciting! The use of the stamps adds another depth to this card, and is quite beautiful. I love the inside of the card also!

I have a question. I just received my first order from your lovely store…that has everything I could ever possibly want in it! I received the stamp LB-1208 it says Times Silicone Stamp and is shaped like a bar of ivory soap. Would you please tell me how to use this, how to clean it, if I may emboss the image, and if I should stay away from certain inks? I have used wood, rubber and acrylic stamps, but never one like this, and I am quite happy to have it! Now, to use it!

Thank you for all of your help…including the guidelines in this blog post. And, for your generosity of such an exciting combination of lace goodies to the recipient! Thanks!

    Hi Sharon!

I left a message for you under the SU! Sale link. Would you please tell me if any of the stamps are particularly of men fishing, or BBQing or doing “manly” things?

Or if any are particularly Vintage scenes?

    Thank you so much!
