Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Ric Rac

Welcome, friends! Today is Saturday so that means another Blog Hop — Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  Today the design team was challenged to use Ric Rac in their projects.  Ric Rac — what does that bring to mind?  Well, for me I think immediately of aprons — aprons from the 50’s era decorated above the hem and on the pockets with Ric Rac.  Our first 7th grade sewing project in home economics was an apron, with ric rac as well.  I still have it — torn and tattered from use, but I still have it — LOL!  Well, let’s see if the design team can get me out of the 1950’s apron mode and show me some more updated uses for Ric Rac!  Here’s what I made:

I used my favorite Ric Rac which is called Velvet Zig Zag.  The color I used is called Pink, but it’s truly more of a blush type color.  It’s a great match to May Arts Silk in Champagne and to SU’s Blush Blossom card stock.

Paper:  Webster’s Pages 6×6 pad – Let’s Celebrate/All About Me/Western Romance

All coordinates to the above pad can be seen here and here.

ALL Webster’s Pages in stock can be seen heresome is reduced!

Cardstock used is SU Very Vanilla and Close to Cocoa.

The card is 5.5″ square to perfectly fit into the 5.5″ Square Clear Box, both for protection and presentation, and mailing if need be.

I used a new set by JustRite — a set I know I’ll be using over and over again — it’s a totally FUN large, clear set called Just Keep Calm including a total of 64 stamps in the set.  There are words galore to create just about any Just Keep Calm saying you want as well as beautiful frames and tiny images.  I LOVE the frame I used on this card.

All of the January releases by JustRite can be seen here.

There are frames in this set to work with both of the new dies made by Spellbinders for JustRite that coordinate with this and many other JustRite sets.  I used the Nested Medallion Label Dies, and the Nested Oval Medallion Label Dies also coordinate with this set. Even though these dies are brand NEW, as I am currently running a Spellbinders Sale, these items are reduced a bit!

The upper left hand corner flourish is cut from Spellbinders Flourish Accent, a long time FAV of mine!

I also used Versa Fine Vintage Sepia Ink and 3D Foam Squares for elevation.

For some glitz and sparkle I used Kaisercraft Rhinestones in Silver and I applied Ultra Fine Translucent Glitter with a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen.

As my Velvet Zig Zag was so close in color to the paper, I backed it with 1″ Stitched Satin in Ivory to allow it to show up better.  I use Scor Tape to adhere my ribbon.  It’s super easy to layer ribbons on top of each other and prevent them from slipping with the use of the Scor Tape.

I then made a bow on the smallest legs of the Bigger Bow Easy out of 1.25″ Silk Ribbon in Champagne.

The Rose is a Prima Trellis Rose – Orange Creme.

The leafy pieces tucked behind the rose are die cut using Spellbinders Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents.  I just thought that little leafy vine so closely resembled the motif in the frame that I wanted to use it here.

I use Aleene’s Glues for adhering my layers of bows and flowers.

And here’s my card all set in its own 5.5″ Square Clear Box.  It’ll stay protected and safe from damage until I give it.  And giving it in a clear box is always a special treat, it seems!  People love getting cards in clear boxes!

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

  23. Hi Sharon~

I love that stamp set also! And, you put together a wonderful Sentiment for a very elegant card. I love how you used the velvet ric rac in such a soft and beautiful color. I thought ric rac only came in the 1950’s style! I learned differently on this hop! I love the wide ric rac…but the velvet style knocks my socks off!

Thank you for offering this very generous give-away. I did visit everyone’s blog…very happy to do so weekly…and left a message for each designer. What a team!
