Quick and Easy Mother’s Day Gift

I hope the Sunday School children feel these little candle gifts are JustRite for their Moms.  I was SO inspired by the inspiration photo over at the JustRite Blog this week I just wanted to do something with those colors.  Well, when I was taking my weekly stroll (more like a mad run) through Wal-mart on Sunday afternoon, the colors of these petite little jar candles just jumped out at me -  they were PERFECT for the color challenge AND  at only $1.00 each they were PERFECT little gifts for our Sunday School Children to take  home to their Moms.  I usually get them each a little plant to take home, but this year it’s candles for a change.  I DO hope the children like them, and their Moms!  Here’s the inspiration photo from the Justrite Blog:

Gorgeous photo – gorgeous colors!  Can you see why I was inspired?

If you want to play along and try to win some FAB prizes from JustRite, check it out here.  Time is limited to about 2 more days, so get busy if you want a chance to win.

Here are the $1.00 jar candles that I decorated for Mother’s Day gifts.

They were so quick and easy to do!

The petite little Happy Mother’s Day from JustRite’s clear set, Vintage Rose Medallions, worked perfectly here.  It was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and cut with the round tag die from the Spellbinders die set made for JustRite, Charm Dies. This is most definitely a go-to die set for me when I need simple little tags — JUST love it!!!

The ribbon is just tied around the neck of the jar into a little bow.  I used 3/8″ Gingham by May Arts in Pink, Yellow, Orange and Celery.  The colors matched these candles perfectly!  Then I used Baker’s Twine to tie on the tag (just knotted it and clipped the ends) in Cotton Candy, Lemon, Orange and Apple Green — again, a PERFECT match to my gingham and the candles!

Another option for ribbon with these candles is the 3/4″ Striped Twill — the colors are a GREAT match to this line of candles.  The ribbon is a bit wider, so if you got a larger candle, it would work very well.  The gingham used today is also available in 1.5″ Wide Gingham so that works super well on larger candles, too!

Here’s a view of the candle top.  I used a mix of Prima roses — the leaves and some flowers were from the Laraine packages and other roses were from the Fairytale Rose packages.  I used Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue (from Wal-mart or any crafty superstore) to glue on my layers — first 2 leaves, then a bow made of the Baker’s Twine and then two roses.  Let dry well before you handle them too much as the florals slip around on the glass jar top, but once dried they are stuck tight!

And that’s it for this little project – 4 done!  Now I have to figure out how many more I’ll need!

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.
