A Brand New Room for Sewing and Scrapping

Published by at 9 27 pm under Uncategorized

Hi everyone.  I never intended to be absent so long.  Why is it we think we can do it all — our normal work, creating, blogging, Christmas, visitors, extra activities, etc., etc.,  Well, as much as I thought I could keep up everywhere, once I realized that was not going to happen, I just gave up the ship and have spent this last week since Christmas enjoying our children who were all home, without too much worry about anything else.  Yes, I have fallen behind on shipping orders, and for that I do apologize.  I hope to be caught up in the next couple of days as business as usual resumes bright and early on Monday morning.

We did have a wonderful Christmas holiday with everyone home, and for that I am so very thankful.  And today I just want to quickly share with you the beautiful new room that Marissa got for sewing and scrapbooking.  It was Steve and Marissa’s 1st wedding anniversary this summer and Steve decided to buy Marissa a sewing machine as an anniversary gift as she was interested in beginning to sew.  Well, one thing led to another and he ended up creating a sewing room for her in the lower level of their home.  And I laughingly say one thing led to another because in the process Steve ended up learning he enjoyed furniture making and the tools he had to purchase to make her room ended up being a far larger investment than the initial sewing machine purchase ever was.

Here’s the brand new room — still brand spanking new and unused at this point.  I LOVE it!

This is a view of the entire room as it is now.

This is the counter/sewing table area that was the first portion created.

See the shiny pink walls?  I really wondered how those would look, but they are absolutely stunning!

The bulletin board is from Hobby Lobby.

Steve made this set of cube shelving based on something similar they had seen in a store.  Love how it turned out!  I really like the combination of natural wood and white.

The dress form was a Christmas gift Steve bought Marissa.

Another view from the window side of the room.  A TV hangs above the cutting/work table.

Steve made this large table to a height for standing while working, whether it be cutting fabric or scrapping.  Personally, probably 99% of the work I do is done while standing, so I really appreciate a higher work surface.

There is still plenty of empty space in this room for more pieces as time and supplies dictate.

And here are son Steve (carpenter/furniture maker) and Marissa (scrapbooker and budding seamstress).

Engineer and Math Teacher in real life — LOL!!!

Thank you, Marissa and Steve, for allowing me to share your latest creation!

I wish you both many, many years of fun hobbies — it’s good for the soul!

As for me, life as normal resumes as I work to get caught up again!

If you celebrate on New Year’s Eve – please be careful, don’t drink and drive.

As for husband Steve and me, it’s probably pizza and pop in front of the TV — LOL!  That’s about as exciting as it gets here!!!

Be safe, everyone, and I’ll be back soon!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oh my! What a beautiful space! Steve, you did a fantastic job and Marissa, you will be able to create some lovely projects in a room so gorgeous! What an inspiration! My Mom used to sew all my clothes as a little girl, and one would think I would have followed in her shoes. Never did, but not because I didn’t want to; I just never found the time. Maybe it’s not too late! Paper, markers, embellishments, stamps, etc are my thing now, and doesn’t it do our souls good to create something beautiful? Thanks Sharon, for sharing your family and this lovely space with us. Happy New Year to you all! Be safe! And Healthy and Happy…

Oh what a perfect room! I want to see it maybe this time next year when she’s been shopping for fabric and scrapbooking stuff and it looks like the rest of ours ……you know…..with the “creative clutter”. Very nice job!!!!

Such a beautiful room. And so neat and clean. Wonder how long it will look like this. LOL Maybe she’s neater than I am when I’m working on sewing, scrap booking or card making. Hope so. Edna

This is a gorgeous room and congratulations to both of them in getting to share another “love”. I am waiting until after the bedlam around here during the holidays and I am taking everything out of my junky craft room and rearranging everything. I told my husband that his help with this was the only thing I wanted for Christmas. My new year’s eve celebration will be hot chocolate and popcorn with two of my granddaughters, ages 9 and 11, (and my husband if he can stay awake) and watching the ball drop on TV. I hope you have a safe and happy New Year.

We don’t drink either and celebrate New Year’s with our kids. One of our grandsons has a birthday 12/31, so it’s fun to spend some of the day with them. When he was little, he thought all the fireworks were for his birthday….LOL

    Great pics…yummy room.

    Happy New Year!

Wow this is so awesome! What brand of machine does she have? My machine is 43 years “young.” As I started to learn to machine quilt last year I broke the zig-zag!!!! So I am keeping an eye out for what to get in the future. Currently I use a friend’s machine. Happy New Year to you all!
