Stenciling with Distress Oxide Ink – by Sharon Johnson
Today I have a quick little card to share that was created as a shoe box swap card for a stamping event. The purpose was to demo stenciling with the Distress Oxide Inks. After the stenciling was done, the finish was super quick. Take a look:
Isn’t it sweet!
The sentiment is from our Get Well Tulip stamp set and the tiny bird is from a Spellbinders set that has been retired for probably 10 years. She fit there perfectly, so I used her, but that sent me on a quest to find a new small bird die that is currently available, which I did – linked below!
Here’s my background sheet that I stenciled. I went for a clean and fresh look, so I omitted any misting after my stenciling was completed.
I secured my white paper to my craft sheet with a strip of double sided tape underneath, then taped my stencil securely on top using painters tape, and using the Mini Ink Blending Tools I blended in my 3 Oxide Ink colors. Done! I could have misted after the fact for a more splotchy look, but I stopped with the clean and fresh look.
After mounting my stenciled background on black cardstock, a simple sentiment and my little bird completed the card. I love it and so did all the ladies who made it.
Here’s what I used:
