Patriotism runs deep in the veins of Americans and the season to celebrate our patriotism seems to run all summer long, though for the true patriot it runs 24/7/365. And in just one more year our country will celebrate its 250th birthday – WOW!! Here at Stamp Simply we have a wonderful and fully coordinated assortment of patriotic stamps and dies and Deb has used a few of them on today’s wonderful project.

What an absolutely stunning patriotic card!!!

This is a mini-slimline measuring 3.5″ x 6″.

Starting with the subtly stamped background, Deb used the collage stamp from The Red, White and Blue by Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.

The bell on top is from Liberty Bell by Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.

The USA is from Old Glory by Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.

The small tag was cut using Tag Collection by Tim Holtz (Sizzix).

Those large and fun numbers are cut with the Countdown dies by Tim Holtz (Sizzix).

All designer paper used is from Let Freedom Ring by Echo Park.

The bow is made using 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon in Burgundy and a heart button from Deb’s stash, along with a bit of Kraft Baker’s Twine.

The inks Deb used for stamping and accenting are:

 Memento Espresso Truffle

 Delicata Celestial Copper,

along with some red and blue for sentiments.

She colored with her Copic markers.

Aren’t those numbers fun when done in the patriotic papers!

And here is the inside.

The inside sentiment is from The American Eagle by Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.

And Deb made 2 extra very tiny cards using the cut-off from her card base and applying cutouts from the paper pad used. Waste not, want not!

The tags were made using sentiments and stars from the sets above-mentioned and linked.

My love for a simple black and white card goes back years, decades actually. I love the combined simplicity and formality that black and white offers and I feel they are especially suitable for wedding cards. It appears Esther is in agreement with my thoughts as she created an absolutely stunning card for a wedding done in nothing but black and white paper with black ink.

Esther combined a variety of sets on today’s card, yet achieved a totally cohesive look, easily done by keeping the theme black and white.

Sympathy cards are some of the most needed, especially when we reach that certain age ourselves. Some say they either dread or struggle with syampthy cards, while I, personally, take pleasure in making them. NOT for the reason they are being made, but for the fact that as cardmakers we can take our time and craft a special card just for the family in mourning, tailoring our card to them with reminders of the dear loved one who has passed. It’s kind of like a final goodbye, a final gift, we, as cardmakers, can send to honor that special person. And in that, I can take some comfort and pleasure. We are fastly approaching the heaviest wedding season of the year where couples everywhere are embarking on new beginnings filled with love and joy.
