Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Checks
Welcome, welcome! It’s Saturday so that means another Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style Blog Hop! Glad you joined us! Today the design team is focusing on incorporating checks into their designs — totally FUN. Personally, I LOVE checks — they take me back to my childhood and remind me of spring and summer — so today, checks it is!
And, I used a new pad of paper today, making it double the fun. Here’s my project:
The paper is by Prima — Sun Kiss in A4 size. It is also available in 6×6, just scaled smaller. This pad was just a delight to work with and to me it just called for some checked ribbon!
The cardstock used is SU Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.
This card is my favorite size of late – 6.5 x 4.75″. Making cards with this much bulk means they don’t fit into a regular envelope. I like to encase them in a Clear Box, both for protection and presentation. Making the card this size means it fits perfectly in an A6 Clear Box.
The large die-cut plaid piece on this card was cut using Spellbinders new Labels Twenty-five. A simple, yet classic shape. Just the kind I really love!
My sentiment is from With Sympathy by JustRite. I make a lot of sympathy cards and With Sympathy is a great set for those; however, I have found it has sentiments very useful for other occasions as well, such as today’s card. I have also made Valentine Cards using sentiments from With Sympathy (kind of a comical thought when you think about it — LOL — but it works for me). Here’s those Valentine cards if you care to take a look.
And I’m really jumping all over the place with product on this card. I was SO happy with the little banner die I used on the sentiment. I’ve been hand cutting tails like that on small sentiment banners for ages. Well, now I have the perfect sized die in JUST the shape I wanted. It’s contained in a new Spellbinders die package called Nautical Frames and Accents. That’s a GREAT die set for all the nautical/beachy themed summer projects sure to come and it surely fills my need for that petite little banner.
A Kaisercraft Rhinestone in Bronze was used.
Making the bow/floral focal point on a card is always my favorite part and this was a fun one. Here’s what I used:
7/8″ Gingham Ribbon – Natural
Burlap String – Natural
Prima Angelica Rose Collection – Dreamy
I use Aleene’s Glues from local superstores, and I’m generous with it. It is inexpensive and it holds super tight. NOTHING is ever loose or comes off. Just be sure to hold bulky items with a bit of pressure until the glue takes hold.
Here’s the card inside. Using the dark Chocolate Chip for the card base, I needed a lighter inside to write on so I used a coordinating sheet from the Sun Kiss pad.
All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

I didn’t know where to contact you at Sharon, other than here but I wanted to say again, Thank you for your generousity in the ribbons I won from your store. They were the purple and yellow ribbons and flowers that are spectacular. I am so appreciative and can’t wait to use them. Haven’t had a chance yet as I have been ill, but I couldn’t remember if I said thank you or not and felt really bad if I hadn’t. So again THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. Your cards are just beautiful and so inspiring for me to continue learning and creating with your ideas delightful cards to send my friends and family.
So glad to see your card done with this paper as I recently purchased a pad. The checked ribbon is very much in character with the general feel of the paper. I loved it!
